dog food and approximately another ten pounds of dog clothing!!!

My sister-in-law Leslie is a groomer and has a salon and boutique which is about an hour and twenty minutes from where we live. She mailed Karli a large package of clothes last week and all of the clothing items were a size small. Most of the items fit, but some were too large and some were too small.

My husband was at his parents yesterday, so yesterday afternoon I decided to take Karli to the boutique to exchange some of the clothes. While I was at the boutique, I bought Karli some additional clothes. embarrassed.gif

It was after dark when I started home, and on a whim I decided to take a shortcut to my parents home to visit them for a few minutes. They live in a very rural area and the shortcut to their house is a curvy, hilly, isolated road.

I get about twenty minutes into the backwoods and there's two state troopers with their lights on beside the road. I was thinking oh great - there's been a bad accident or they've stopped a violent criminal or something. It ended up being a regular traffic stop where the cops check your driver's license, car registration, etc.

I'm sitting in my car blinded by the trooper's two flashlights sweatdrop.gif and one of them says "Joy?!?!" I replied, "Yes sir, that's my name. . . ???" One of the troopers introduced himself. He was a football player when I was a cheerleader in high school. He asked about my little buddy in the crate in the back seat and shined the flashlight back there to check Karli out. He said he was a dog lover too and had two great danes and a saint bernard. He let me through the traffic stop without checking my driver's license or anything. I guess he figured the bottle of Dasani water in my console was the strongest thing he'd find in the car.

I was nervous during the stop and I don't know why - I don't do drugs or even drink alcohol. I can imagine how uptight other people get when they're stopped. However, these tough guys might've discovered what a flippin' nut I am about my dogs if they had searched my car and found all the dog items in there. I had everything from a dog stroller to dog pajamas in my "possession".

Between the darkness and the brightest flashlights I've ever seen, I couldn't tell very much about what he looks like now, but in high school he was ruggedly handsome. Curly red hair and dark eyes. Very athletic build. . . . . . . .

I know exactly what you mean, Joy. I always feel the same way. I got stopped last winter driving to Florida, because I didn't have a license tag on the front of my car, as required by TX law. I felt like I'd robbed a bank, or worse. Glad the policeman knew you and let you move along. biggrin.gif

I understand completely! I got pulled over last year and I was in a panic trying to figure out what I did wrong. Turned out I just forgot to put the stupid registration sticker on the licence plate when I renewed it brownbag.gif . I had it in the car and the officer was really nice about it. He just checked the registration and told me to put the sticker on and sent me on my way. The time it took me to pull over felt like an eternity. I was sure I hadn't been speeding or doing anything wrong! rolleyes.gif

What a nice surprise for you.

I agree though, it is nerve jarring to be pulled over any time.

enJOY!
