Bob and I fostered Powder ( Malt from a puppy mill ). When he was ready the Petsafe rescue put him on their Petfind and an Ad in the paper
I got a call at 10:30 one night. When I answered the phone the operator said "You are getting an IP call, do you know what to do?". Never, ever heard of this before. She would receive his message, tell me, type my response to him.
He said..."Do you still have the dog?"
I said....." Yes, it is a rescue with special needs."
He said..." I will send you my email address."
At that the operator said that the "party" had gone and she was gone. I dialed "O" and asked an operator about the call to which she said it was a deaf person and that is how they make phone calls.
Bob and I talked along with a couple of other people about this person. I thought I would ask if he were in our area and had another dog and help. Just hated to shut the door on him because he was deaf.
Got his email!!!!!!
~ Concerning the payment I can ONLY send you a Cheque. Regarding the shipping, I have a company that takes care of the pick up of my consignments for me and ship anywhere in the USA. The company will send a representative to arrange sales documentation and pick up info from you. Please send all YOUR info to me including last price for dog.
As soon as you receive payment go and cash check immediately, send the money to the Head Office, you can keep any extra, and we will be in touch for shipping info! ~
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe this!!!!!!!
Bob said " what do they want with a dog?" No honey, they don't want a dog, want us to cash a bad check, send money fast and scam us!!!!
Dumb me, trying to help someone and fell right into this. Powder wouldn't have been a good dog for a deaf person but I was thinking maybe I could help find a pet for this person.
Beware of bad people!!! We reported this but as yet have not heard anything.
I FEEL SOOOO STUPID!!!!!!!!!!

Don't feel stupid, you were trying to do a good thing.

They have no feelings for anyone but themselves!!
I am so sorry this happened, thank God you found out before anything bad happened.

You are certainly NOT stupid. You are a good person trying to do the right thing by somebody. You figured it out right away when you had enough information. People pray on others with good hearts because they know they will think with their hearts and not be looking for a scum bag scam artist. Imagine the time they spend looking through the advertisements and thinking these scams up. What a waste of brain power.

Marsha, that's not stupid! Tons of people ALMOST get scammed, they are victims, not stupid.
....now if you had done exactly what he asked....maybe...
Well, anyway, that is such a scary thing...and too close to home for comfort!!

I get those all the time but with the mail from some location in Canada. I really hate that there are those kind of people out there...grrrrrrrrrrrr......
I usually forward that kind of mail/information to the FBI.

A friend of mine had a business that she took things on consignment and listed it on Ebay. A man sent her a money order for way more that the item. He called and told her it was a mistake and to send him back the difference. She took the cashiers check to the back and they said it looked real. She still felt funny about the whole thing and ask them to run the numbers and make sure. It was a fake and if she had sent the money she would have just been out that much money. She took this cashiers check to the police dept and the FBI but nothing was ever done. This man even called her business and threatened her. Told her it was a real check and he wanted his money. It was a mess! You just have to realize how much of this goes on and be very careful. I sold a camera on Ebay and a guy tired to buy it with a paypal account that didn't match his information and wanted it shipped right away to an address out of the country. I wouldn't ship to any address but the address paypal had. He got so mad but come to find out it wasn't his paypal account. I was glad I had that funny little feeling you get when you don't think something is right. He did end up scamming a lot of people on Ebay and I'm sure glad I wasn't one of them.
Be careful when dealing with anyone on the Internet!

You know if these people would just get an honest job.......I'm sure it takes a lot of time and effort to do these dishonest things~~to me, it would be much simpler to do right. Were they never taught you can do whatever you please, as long as you please to do right!!!!!
You were trying to help this criminal so bad and all he was thinking about was getting your money!!! It is so sad!!!! I put my money on YOU!!!! You were sweet and very caring..........Thank You!!!!!

You were trying to help someone. Your not stupid. I'm just amazed at some of the things people do. I work in retail in Customer Service and i can't believe some of the things these people come up with.
