A friend of mine (a fellow dog lover, although she loves Poms) sent this to me. I love it and want to share it with all of you
If I Didn’t Have a Dog… I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.
All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture & cars would be free of hair.
When the doorbell rings, it wouldn’t sound like a kennel.
When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.
I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.
I would have money & no guilt to go on a real vacation.
I would not be on a first-name basis with numerous veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grandkids through college.
The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, & leave him/her/it ALONE.
My house would not look like a day care center, with toys everywhere.
I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.
I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.
I’d look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading ‘mud’ season.
I would not have to answer the question ‘Why do you have so many animals?’ from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.
How EMPTY my life would be!!! Because, Until one has loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened
I would also add that I would not be tripping over doggie beds all day long, and my ceramic tile in the kitchen wouldn’t be turned into an all-day ice rink due to water spills from the dogs’ water bowl. Life would be so simple without the dogs. I could come and go as I please, save a ton of money, and I wouldn’t have to base my decision to buy a car on what the dogs will find comfortable. I wouldn’t have my entrance to the kitchen blocked by a dog gate when I am in a hurry. My backyard would not be adorned with spots of dead, brown grass from doggie urine. And I wouldn’t have $200+ electric bills in the summer because I have to leave the air conditioning on all day for the dogs. (don't tell DH) And I love every single bit of it all. Life without dogs is not ever in the cards for me. My dogs are so incredibly high maintenance, but none of it is “work” for me. It’s all fun and good and right. They are worth every minute of time, every penny I spend! All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture & cars would be free of hair.
