All strawberries must die...

... or at least that's what the pups seem to think. The plants trailing my garden are starting to develop strawberries and the puppies seem to think it's great fun to pick the GREEN ones and eat them...this Can't be good for them. It would be impossible for me to fence them off since they are wandering all over my flowerbeds (the plants and the dogs)... I actually got so desperate yesterday I found two berries that had turned red/ripened and gave them each one of those (hoping that by eating the ripe ones they wouldn't get sick as eating green ones). I'm not sure if it's fun for them to pull the berries off/chase each other or if they just like the way they taste, but Green????!!!! I just don't get it...

It sounds like they really enjoy picking them and eating them!!!
LOL! I can relate. Susie & Sadie are doing the same thing. I have a raised planter bed full of strawberry plants and the girls just wont leave them alone! They remember getting strawberries from it last year (and LOVED them), so they've been checking for berries ever since the plants started to grow again. Now that the berries have started, they keep trying to pick them green. You'd think they would at least wait for them to ripen! Apparently they're not picky when it comes to strawberries - they'll take them ripe or not. :p

how funny, looks like both of you are in for a long summer:HistericalSmiley:
My sister's Scotties ate strawberries right off the plant ALL the time...made her so mad. LOL!!!
lol...that is so cute! Hey...they know what they like and they know how to get it. Maybe a separate strawberry patch just for them? Oh wait...then we'll have the old 'grass is always greener' and they'll have to compare to see which strawberry patch produces the yummiest berries! :HistericalSmiley:
LOL...sounds like they have good company. Who knew so many dogs were fruit eaters :p HAHAHAHA!!!

*I like the way you think, Crystal, but they are definitely still in the 'what's mine is mine, what's yours is mine stage :p*
hehe they are too adorable in their acts :D

hugs
Kat
How berry sweet!
Your garden sounds like a lot of fun with the pups running around looking for mischief and berries.
Maybe you could train them to put the berries in a basket for you? :HistericalSmiley:

ROFL...that would be COOL!!!! But I also have to train them to pick the RED ones :p
I didn't get one strawberrie last year..Kinky ate them all.. This year I have them up high so he can't reach them.. Shame on me!!!! :)
Our last rescue dog--Bo--a bischon---loved the leaves from our raspberry plant! I could not keep him off it! Even when there was no fruit---funny little guy. I sure miss him. He was totally deaf, had cushings and aggressive mouth cancer but loved EVERYONE and all of life---right up until the end.
