I took Izzy in about 6 weeks ago and had blood work done as part of her check up. Here ALT level was 270 which was a little concerning.

Dr. B put her on milk thistle and said it was probably high because is was spring and there are lots of chemicals around at that time. She was fairly certain it was nothing serious but we needed to lower the value

Well I took her in to have blood work done again on Monday and her ALT was at 130.:chili::chili::chili::chili:. Dr. B said that was great, to just keep her on the milk thistle and we'll test again in 2 months to make sure it gets down into the normal range.

Milk Thistle is amazing, isn't it? Lady has been getting it for ten years, ever since she has been taking phenobarbital which is known to destroy the liver. Her last ALT was 79!

I did have to add Denosyl a few years ago. If her ALT doesn't go down to normal, you might want to ask your vet about adding that, too.

Glad to hear about the new numbers. That's great. Funny but I was at a farmer's market in VT over the weekend and one of the herb vendors was selling milk thistle.
Milk Thistle is a miracle herb
Milk thistle IS amazing. I was skeptical but I'll be darned if it didn't do the trick and quickly too! I wasn't sure how Dr. B could be so sure her ALT levels would be down this time but now I know why.

Maybe little Izzy needs a treadmill for her walks? Gotta keep her away from all the nasty lawn stuff people put down.

Sooooo glad Miss Izzy's levels are going down! WooHoo!!
We have a treadmill and we have to move it inside and into the basement so the Miss Izzy and I can both use it. It is so darn hot outside it's hard to find a decent time for walks at all anymore!!

Tanner has been on Milk Thistle (Marin) for several years now. His ALT has ranged from a high of 900 to a low of 129. In the last year, it's been below 200. I was giving him Denosyl, but it seems as tho he has an aversion to pills--I found them all over the kitchen floor, so I gave up on that one. But I agree, MT is a wonderful thing.
