Yep. I made note of the same ad in another thread. And, it happens to appear right under our beautiful SM banner. Yikes is right. :smstarz:
I have now seen a bunch of breeds with this similar banner - perhaps 4 breeds so far. Isn't there a way to stop this?
I just saw it, too. I've seen the Yorkie one a lot in the past week.

It seems like we are fighting a losing battle. :smcry:
Brit, I'm sick about these ads. Seems like NOTHING has been done about them. I have spent half my life protesting this crap, just to have it show up, on the very forum, my Rescues use as an avenue. As a place for help.

We were told over, and over, again, how nothing would change with the new ownership. We were told it will only get better. Many posters, for lack of a better phrase, were told to "wake up, and get into the 21st century".

In my eyes, we've taken a few steps back. And nope, I will not be renewing my membership. I will not, financially, support a site which is advertising/supporting poor breeding practices.

And nope. I don't want to hear the "Just let us know, and we'll take care of it" crap. That has already proven worthless, and a waste of time, for those of us who have complained. If anything, it's gotten worse.

I will not apologize for my vent. If the owners cannot, or will not, do anything about this, then they owe my dogs an apology.
I just looked the site up.
At the very bottom of the page it says: About Malteses.

And it says that the standard is (quote):
"Average Weight
6½-9 pounds
(3-4kg.)"

Is it a european site? because that is our standard. 6.6 - 8.8lbs/3-4kg
I thought there was a place to put this information and Joe would take it off But I can't find the place.
Could our forum put a warning sign like they do with cigarettes on top
in red that says we do not endorse the pop up adds...or something like that....they could be just popping up like they do on my yahoo site. its just a thought

I did not see this and other ads, as I have an ad blocker installed on my browser. I think it is inexcusable for these types of ads to be displayed on a site that does not allow for the sale of dogs. Something's gotta give, folks. It's time to come up with a permanent solution that doesn't appear as if the site is contradicting itself.

I believe that I and others have asked for a disclaimer a couple of times. I frequent some blogs that contain a disclaimer similar to the one you mentioned.
I've seen and complained about this same ad - in addition to Maltese also boxers and chiuauas - I agree with Deb - no renewal for me as long as these ads keep popping up and there is no obvious attempt to stop them - especially after members, including paying members, have requested that they be stopped time after time after time.

Linda
Did anyone see how much they are charging for those not well bred pups on that site?? OMG!
I apologize for the ads that you guys are seeing. I know it's not much comfort to some of you to tell you that we are blocking the links as they are made known to us. I am getting the links blocked as we speak.
As I said weeks and weeks ago, I completely stopped posting them as it made no difference. They are all still here---seen two already today. Just the way it is now, evidently. ((sigh))
Funny, Yung said an hour ago that he was blocking these ads, and it is still there when I came to SM. Deb, I could not agree with you more.

This was posted at 9:36. It is now 11:15 CST. Blocking ads sure takes a long time. Guess I'm very impatient, but I just saw the dang ad again right before I am responding to this post.
The ads take 24 hours to filter out. It has never been an instant filtering out.
I wonder if any lurkers saw the ads and purchased dogs from them in the 24 hours that the ads were still up? It makes me very sad that we who are so against animal abuse are actually indirectly supporting BYB's/Puppy Mills.

I'll have to seriously think about this a little further.
I don't quite understand why it's up to the membership to police for this. We never had to do that before.
