Anyone know anything about EasyWater systems?(NON-SALT TREATMENT SYSTEMS)
Wondering if anyone has info/experience with the EasyWater systems or any of the non-salt type even if different brand.

It's one of the new water conditioning systems where there is no salt needed etc. I doesn't 'soften' water since minerals are left intact... but it does 'something' ( has to do with the pos/neg ions using magnetic field or some such thing...I have to go back to chemistry/physics class :blink
whereby there is supposed to be no scale build up to harm pipes etc. Supposed to have the benefit of no buying/lugging salt, maintinence etc. as with 'traditional' softeners. Supposedly, Walmart has these in their facilities as well as some other large corps.

Ok now I know. We have a water softener. They want us here in Sun City Festival to use potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride because they would like to recycle the water to use in the golf ponds. The only thing is that potassium chloride is a lot more expensive and hard to find locally and not as effective. If you want to buy it online, the shipping cost is prohibitive.
I have heard about the no salt water softening system but I am skeptic too.

I don't know much about them either, just that after we moved in...oh way back in 2002. We bought one that we were going to install... Well, 8 years later, its still sitting in the garage still wrapped in plastic. :blink: We just never got around to it. If we ever get it hooked up, I'll let you know how well it works!

Janine we do use the potassium chloride rather than the sodium... and all is working fine... but was thinking that for maybe the future. Hubby can no longer lug the bags in by the softener...and I sure can't ( I'm pretty strong but not THAT strong LOL , and now with a bad shoulder it's out anyway!)
When we first saw the ad...felt worth looking into... then to me seems like one of the 'too good to be true" deals LOL.

Terry you are right. Those bags are heavy. The day we cannot lift them anymore we will have to ask our son in law to put them in. I don't know if this is true or not, but the guy who sold us our fence said it's all nice that they want to recycle the water and use it for the ponds and grass. But they will end up with a lot of algae in the ponds if we use the potassium.

this is a company i've been looking at to replace our current sodium based water softener. i think i want the combo series. their site has some great videos on the topic.
We have hard water and don't use a softener but have been thinking about getting one as I think it may be causing staining on Aolani. I notice that he's staining on his face and paws now - could be allegies to something else, but I also notice some staining on his neck hairs. That area gets pretty wet when I wash his face and I know he can't reach that area to lick it so it must be the water??? He doesn't like to be blown dried so I dry him up as much as I can with a towel and off he goes to air dry, which he does pretty fast. Does anyone know if there is any correlation with hard water and staining on our malts?
When we were living in Houston we did not have a water softener and the water was pretty hard there too. We decided to hold off on any of these we looked into. Did some research on reviews and a bit of techy research on a few brands and came away still a skeptic. We'll continue to seek info but for now feel we'd better wait . Still 'open' to them but don't feel we have enough knowledge about them at this point so sticking with the softener we have.
The presence or lack of staining because of the water from one region of the country to another depends on the iron content. An area such as south central Kansas (Wichita) has so much iron,and sulpher in the water it's necessary to have seperate units in conjunction to the softener to remove it. Here in Vegas, the mineral content is very high due to the caliche, but we don't have the iron content. Water here varies from one area of the city to another b/c it's running off of different wells as well as Lake Mead/Colorado River. Most homes here have water softeners, as well as a filtration system for drinking water, or they buy drinking water. Vegas was recently voted to have the 3rd worst water in the country!
