@Sep 24 2005, 04:16 PM Chicago is fine and has a wonderful music and dance score. I would have been much more hesitant to take a young girl to Les Mis than to Chicago!!
It is a strange comparison, but Les Mis is about war, murder, heartbreak, cruelty and death - don't get me wrong I think it is a super show, but if I was a protective parent I would want to protect my child more from war than from some provocative dancing. Having said that I think introducing all those sorts of topics through a media like the theatre is an excellent idea, and you can discuss the content and any questions it raises with your child afterwards.
Could you get the opportunity to watch the movie quietly on your own and decide from there if you consider the material appropriate?
