Our Bingley is obsessed with his plush toys. He always has one in his mouth. He pushes them at us to play catch, and when they are in the washing machine, he sits there and waits for the wash cycle to be done.
Yesterday however, he was coughing for several hours, and I think it's these plush toys. So I took them away and bought him a bunch of rubber toys, balls, etc, but he doesn't like any of them.
Any advice? It breaks my heart to withold his cherished toys!

Maybe it's the detergent? I hardly ever wash my dogs' plush toys, but when I do, I use a scent free detergent, only a small amount, and I use the extra rinse cycle.

Might Bingley have a tuft of toy fur or strands of string from the toy stuck in his throat? Maybe washing loosened them.

I also find plush toys can to be magnets for human hair (if you have long hair). A hair could be stuck in his throat, transmitted via toy (possibly via dryer to toy).
