It is so sad. Yes, I have sent prayers in behalf of all the victims and their families. And, I will again tonight.

Paula's in Yuma which is west of Tucson on the California border.

Jerry and I had a long talk about this tonight. All of the victims were taken to University Medical Center which is where Jerry is on the Transplant list (as well as Mayo in Scottsdale).

I swear I wouldn't want to be starting life in today's environment. There's so much violence with little consequencences. What a cruel and senseless act. My heart breaks for the families. So innocent. I'm certain that none of them thought the day would hold something like this in store. It was a lovely Saturday and they weren't doing anything but enjoying the day. And then the world caves in on them.

Respect for life

There are a LOT of people that are just ticking time bombs and have no respect for life. I just wonder why???? To kill anyone is just a HORRENDOUS act and I pray that all shot recover and that our Lord grants serenity to those families that lost family members in this senseless and crude act of violence.

Our justice system needs to renew itself. We should NOT have to wait 15-20 years to see justice done.

In my eyes, your rights END the minute you violate someone else's.

My family is all in Tucson and Representative Giffords is a friend of my aunts. Please pray for her recovery and the recovery of all the victims. Giffords met my aunt via her support of the "Beat Cancer Boot Camp" my aunt is a part of and is so supportive of the cause.

This was so horrible. My heart aches for the victims and their families and especially the little girl who was born on 9/11/2001 and had allready planned to be a public figure in the future. I heard her mom speaking with someone on the news this morning and she was such a little angel on earth but her mom said maybe she was meant to do bigger things in heaven. Her mom is so brave. Prayers for them and their families.

I really hesitated to comment on this thread for fear of coming off too political. I am not taking stand against any particular party, but rather the way we attack our opponents. The whole thing is so sad and tragic, but, I think, foreseeable. We need to put the guns and the gun metaphors down for good. It is completely unacceptable in my book to "virtually target" someone with a political view in opposition of your own. I know that these people did not commit the crime, but it has set a tone for some unbalanced individuals to act out on their fantasies. When you have violent visual and written cues it is only matter of time before someone thinks that it is OK to act on it. Reading things like "set gun sights on 20 Dems" or "Shoot a Fully Automatic M16" to "Get on Target" & "Remove Gabrielle Giffords" I think we can all agree that the outcome is preordained.
