I took Baci to see the Orthopedic Vet At the AMC with the xray that my Vet had taken a few weeks ago of his paw with the lump/cyst .
First it was a long evening we had a apt at 6.30 last night my mother took Baci and met me there because i had to work...
When we first were called into the examining room we did not see Dr Schwartz but the Asst teck was very nice she explained that they were going to take Baci into the examining room the xray fluid for a biopsy look at the xray so mom and i should wait in the waiting room when i handed Baci over i was a little sad that i was not going to be there but not as much as him..Baci does not like to held by anyone except me when he saw we were making a move for the door he took his little paws and reached out for me BIG LUMP IN MY THROAT he gave the teck a few kicks to get away she smiled and said oh you are a little squirmer and took a better hold ..
While we were in the waiting room a very nice Social Worker was there going over to people to talk and make sure everything was OK with them and to see what was wrong with there dogs...
She did come over to us and we started to chat i was really not in the mood but it did distract me from getting anxious .As we were talking i had noticed a woman holding a white listless dog enter the room where the examining rooms She was holding a Maltese so already i tried to see if she was OK but knew what the answer was .I told the SW i think maybe she needs you more but could not help myself i got up without thinking walked over myself and started to pat the womans shoulders the SW got next to her and she broke down .Her poor baby was in very bad shape i will not say what was wrong because i have read about this diseace recently .she did leave with her dog just to go home and make a decision I'm glad at least she had the SW to call and not feel so alone ..
A little while later Dr Schwartz came to get us with the Teck and my baby he was smiling so i had a feeling they entertained him.She looked over the xray examined his paw and is not sure it could be nothing but until the biopsy comes back in a few days I'm going to be on pins and needles. She did say and i noticed that when they drew some fluid out the little lump did get smaller. After those results are in we will take it from there.hopefully i wont go broke with all this everything is a fortune ...
It was a long night after i got home Baci was running around but i couldn't help thinking of the poor baby i saw and what his mother was going through...

:grouphug:Oh Kathy - what a tough time. The Animal Medical Center sees it all -- for as many years as I can remember since my mom used to take our dogs there when I was a little girl. They are supposed to be excellent but have a reputation for being kind of cold and sterile, lacking bedside manner. It's very hard handing your little one over to someone. I'll never forget when my DS was one year old and needed surgery. They said one parent could accompany him to the operating room as they put him under. I just couldn't do it so my DH did. He was such a wreck. Luckily all went well.

I'm so sorry for the woman who brought in her little Maltese. So sad. I'm sure your putting your arm around her helped to comfort her while she was adrift there. I hope that Baci will be fine. Maybe it's just a fluidy cyst. When are results due back? At least you had your mom with you. I'm sending thoughts and prayers to you and Baci and that poor mommy.

Baci's results should be back in a few days..Through the years i had to bring my pets there if it were a specialist needed..I had hope that Dr Kross could have taken care of it but he felt it should be looked at by an Orthopedic Dr and i admire him for guiding me...Thank you Susan for responding to my post and your prayers to my baby..

I hate when I have to let one of my babies get
carried away by a tech or a vet.... so I can definitely
sympathize. I hope that everything will turn out
to be okay.... sending prayers your way.

Let us know what the results are.

Keeping Baci in my prayers that it's nothing serious. And, how sad for that poor lady, but I'm sure you gave her great comfort just being there for her.

I think it's really neat that they have a SW on hand if anyone wants to talk - I've never heard of that before, but I like!
