Just when things are getting back to normal again here after nine days of no electricity, I come home to find that the electricity to my deep well is off. I knew I didn't owe anything, but, just to be on the safe side, I started doing some checking to see if my payment might have been posted to another account.
My payment was credited to my account, and I found that the next statement coming out would show I had used $11 of electricity since the last payment. BUT the power company came on my property and took out my electric meter because they said it was an inactive account.

So, here I sit with a deep well with no power. This will mean that my water supply will have to be treated again when the idiots get around to putting my meter back. It also means I'm back to taking a bath in a bucket with water I purchased at Walmart. Probably the only ones who are OK with this are the dogs who can avoid a bath.

If I could even get through to them on the phone perhaps I could find out their intent. I've had this account over 20 years, and they should be able to see that I don't ever use much electricity to it.
Off to the bucket bath :new_Eyecrazy:

You would think that they would be busy getting electric back to people....and working on other more important items than disconecting accounts they think are no longer in use...and then you would think that they would double check before doing anything....duhhhhhhh

Well, here I sit, waiting for an electrician. They won't put the meter back in because there is no cover on the box. Who knows who lost it, or if there was ever one on the box. I don't ever recall there being one, but they say it's not their responsibility to put it back on. It may cost me hundreds to get all new workings on my power pole. The power company said I should turn it in on my homeowner's insurance as hurricane damage. I told them there never had been a cover on it in all the years I can remember, so I won't lie. Also, it seems they left the electricity on, just took the meter, so I could have been killed if I had fooled around the pole area much.
It's raining here, so I don't know if the electrician will still come.
At least I can go elsewhere to bathe now, as it's not like following the hurrican when everyone was without power in my family.

This very nice electrician showed up around two today. He took his foot and swiped over the ground, finding the cover for the meter. It was there all the time. It wasn't a thing to cover the whole meter, but a thing the meter fit into. NOW, the reason it fell off is because the power company didn't clamp the meter like it should have been. The man cleaned the cover off, bent a clip with some tool, and put it back on. My bill was--ready for this--only $20.00. The power company came back a few minutes ago and put the meter in. The water will need to be treated again before anything but bathing and laundry is done, but at least I can go get in a big whirlpool bath and soak
