I'm trying to be culturally sensitive in that not everybody celebrates Christmas. I do, but not everybody does.

Anyhoo...

Yes, Christmas is a time for giving, not receiving...but...

What was the best thing you got for the holiday?

Doesn't have to be something expensive, maybe something sentimental, something you've been waiting for for a long time, engagements, babies, puppies, lump of coal, etc.

I'll start...I got a cute pink purse and a GUESS bracelet watch...I needed a watch very badly!!!

Your turn!!

Gosh, what a nice thread!

Can you believe this? We, here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, had sort of a white Christmas! We actually got a little mini dusting of snow. It is way too cold and I took a photo of snow on one of the palms. Luckily it'll be 70 by mid week. YAY.

As for gifts, I got bunches of Santas (I'm a collector) and a great David Yurman bracelet, a Prada purse and Seinfeld DVD's. The gift I'm most looking forward to is picking up Sassy on Friday, even though I'm getting nervous that Sadie and Jolie won't like her, or that she won't like sitting on laps, etc. Reassure me! Please......

I wish our snow would go away that fast msmagnolia! Would you believe we got another inch on top of our already 2 FEET of snow last night?!

I received Eeyore slippers and pj's, Vera Bradley purse, electric knife, sweater and matching shirt, Josh Groban cd, and a Marc Anthony DVD. Oh, and some Bath and Body lotion.

I don't know which would be my favorite, probably the Josh Groban cd!

My son gifted me with a beautiful, authentic looking reproduction of a Gauguin painting (my favorite) on matte canvas. He had it framed in a beautiful wood, and it's perfect. He just turned 18, and spent a chunk of his own paycheck on this...the thoughtfulness he put into getting me a gift is very moving...even though he's 6'1 and growing, he's still my baby...

I also got an electric toothbrush
and some really nice clothes

Most of all, I have to be sentimental in saying that the best gift of all is for us to have our health and happiness and spend time together during the holidays.

I wish you all a peaceful and prosperous new year

I got the Hamilton Beach Brew Station (I would have gotten one of the pod ones, but pods are REALLY expensive around here-the brew station is fairly awsome)

A also got exactly the deep cleaner I wanted (took hubby with smallest child in tow two day to find but I have it---*Drumroll please*

The Bissell self propelled Heat pro-it even does bare floors!! I've been steaming for two days....(I get a little weird sometimes)

And a book I've been dying for-Ann Coulters "How to talk to a liberal-if you must".

My kids got me Skechers, and a calander with their picture!

I haven 't actually seen my kids other than meals-they got so many gamebot games and playstation games....heh.
But alas-my childless time will end today-we got about 5 inches of snow and they are going to bug me about sledding in the hollow all day long.

Merry Christmas, my new friends! I'm glad to be part of the family!

I love hearing what everyone got!

One of my favs has got to be my Roomba floor vacuum. Anything that is going to let me cuddle on the couch with Pippin while it does all the work...is a terrific gift IMO! HEHE I have a half day today and I can't wait to get home and try it out!

I am soo happy to hear everyone had a terrific christmas!! My boyfriend (who's 30) decided he wanted an xbox this year...so my house looks like a bomb went off, there are controllers, instruction books, game CD's, wires etc all over my house! I told him that I have the vet coming out today and it better all be cleaned up by the time I get home or he's a dead man!

My favorite part of Christmas is laying in bed waiting for the kids to wake up and find their santa gifts. This year...it seemed they would NEVER wake up!! At 7:15, we finally heard them get up, and we layed there and listened to their expressions of joy at finding their gifts, and that Santa had eaten his cookies and had drunk his custard.
Finally, they come to wake us up...and we all go in to share the joy and open the rest of the presents. I also love watching them open presents. This year, my son got alot of xbox and gameboy games as well as some dvd's. He has figured out the kinds of boxes that clothes are usually in. It was funny to watch him announce that a gift was going to be clothes b/c of the box, and then open it to find another gift wrapped inside of it. I had to hide the games and dvd's in different wrapping...b/c they are so easily recognizable. Anyway, I could go on and on...my kids make my Christmas special.

Here are the things that I got...(in addition to a new transmission in my husband's truck-that was NOT on my list -_- )

CD player for the bathroom
CD player for the kitchen
Gretchen Wilson CD
Ove Glove (oven mit thing)
Mambo perfume set
New diamond ring

My parents and grandparents sent us money to go towards the transmission...ha ha...and we havent' had exchange yet with my husband's family. That will be new year's day.

tlunn,
It sounds wonderful. I'm happy that my girls are grown, but at Christmas I sure do miss all the toys and games that they used to want. It sounds like your family had a great time.

I got the DVD of Fahrenheit 9/11 and Al Franken's book, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right. Looks like we're on opposite ends of the political spectrum!

Well, the absolute best present I got this Christmas was my parents making it up here to be with us despite the crappy weather and driving conditions! It was so unexpected, we had already ruled the trip out because the drive would be dangerous, but Friday the weather cleared up and they surprised me when they knocked on the door! They still had to endure some bad patches of road, but they made it! My mom even brought a Christmas tree and a box full of ornaments and we set it up that afternoon. Despite having been in a crappy mood because I had to work, it was a wonderful weekend.
I did get a few gifts, my husband gave me an Ipod and a Gameboy game for the Nintendo DS I'm planning to gift myself with later when it's finally back in stock. And my parents gave us a beautiful framed history of my new last name with DH. I haven't officially changed my name, but it was a really special gift anyways.
Overall, it was a wonderful weekend!

I also had a wonderful Christmas. My best present was a 2 day trip to the city, staying at a Marriot Hotel, dinner at a great seafood restaurant, and then tickets to a comedy club. (sorry I posted this in the wrong area before so I am repeating this). I also got a gift certificate for a facial at a salon/spa where my daughter works part-time and a lovely sweater.
