Cody’s cancer is back

Hi Sm Family, my Cody had his follow up ultrasound today. Writing with tears his cancer is back they found two new nodules on the liver. This Cody of mine is my life like as well always say when I talk about him. Cody is my world. I am actually choked up writing this because he’s 15 years old and I asked my vet can they get removed at his age. She looked at me and stared and said I don’t know if he’ll make the surgery.. I don’t know much as the report is not back from the ultrasound person. My vet was just told they found two new nodules. He was on Palladia last time but then was taken off of it because it was hurting his liver. So do I put him back on? Do I try to find a laser surgery if that exists to remove it rather then opening him up fully like last time? Has anyone experienced having more than one surgery done on their pet at this age? Cody does not have any symptoms only that his liver enzymes jumped and tripled on his bloodwork which lead me to take an ultrasound. Also if anyone remembers last ultrasound they said Cody’s liver was irregular… I guess that was cancer growing back but not big enough to diagnose him which was the past fall. My little baby loves me so much we are eachothers love I never ever in my entire life have such a close bond with my Cody or any other pet. Does anyone have suggestions or what treatments are out there for a older dog for surgery? I feel if I don’t do anything Cody will deteriorate but if I put him on Palladia I am so frightened that that medicine will damage his liver. Love you all and say lots of prayers for me and Cody.

Thankyou all for your Love and Support and kindness . You can’t imagine it feels so nice that you are here for me and that everyone understands my sadness of going through this hardship with my Cody. Cody’s next vet visit is at the end of this month. I am hoping with the holistic medication added will bring down the liver enzymes and have some effect on his tumors. They say it should. If it does I will be shocked this is the first time I have turned to holistic and praying it helps him. I just wish and pray hard that what I am doing can make them disappear. Thankyou All and I promise I will keep you posted . All my Love, Dee and Cody
Oh Dee I am so sorry. I know how much Cody means to you.

Hi SM family! Boy it’s been such a tiring exhausting week. Cody the past day ago was shivering All night and morning and the vet thought it was very bad gastrointestinal pains. Well I was very frightened I was up all night and day because he was not himself just literally shivering I thought maybe the glucose but nope- sugars was good, so we went with gastro pains. Second day came he finally stopped shivering after 10 hours! This evening he went to the bathroom poop and I felt this hard thing. It looked like a gallbladder stone!!!! Omg! If I only knew that was what it was I would have ran him into the vet… I read he could have died from this if a blockage happened! And this thing was large! Let’s say about the size of a pea! I broke it in half and it snapped. It was hard then googled some images and I believe it’s a gallbladder stone. One of his prior ultrasound did mention he has stones but dogs don’t usually pass them! But not Cody’s case! Unbelievable. I read that the formation happens because the liver tumor and bile is not functioning well. My little baby. I am just happy that he does feel better now. And I thought it was the medicine Palladia got him sick-go figure! And I stopped it. For a few days. You just never know. I pray to god to give me the strength everyday. All I can say he was in lots of pain and pray no more are going to come. I am waiting on my veterinarian to see how this is going to be treated. Please say prayers for my baby Cody he’s trying to be big and brave for his mommy. Love Dee and Cody

Is he taking Ursodiol?
Wow, I would never know what a gallstone looks like! I hope he's done with that.

Hi, Cody is on urosodial. I sent the stone to my vet today. She actually said it doesn’t look like a gallbladder stone but his body is forming some type of minerals. She may think it’s the new supplements he possibly could be taking or the detox maybe pulls the the minerals in his body to get rid of. Although Cody does have gallstones so she wants to do another ultrasound next month and if the shadow is gone on the ultrasound then I can confirm if it’s gone or still there. I opened up these holistic capsules and the stuff inside was really hard and gritty. Not like a proviable nice and dusty and fine. I wonder if the supplement Could not have been digested. The funny thing is I only used this twice?? These capsules. I left a message for the holistic doctor and if it’s the supplement I wish the doctor could tell me that this could have happen. My vet said it was too big to go through his gallbladder duct so that’s why she’s leaning to the supplement. She actually doesn’t want me to stop the holistic because his liver enzymes went down in half. But thinking open the capsule and pour it in his food. I too hope that Cody is done passing these stones.but I have a feeling it’s the supplements. Cody’s feeling alot better still alittle tired, that took a lot out of him.I attached a picture of the stone too. It was whole I snapped it and broke it in two. I will keep you all posted. Thanks again! Dee

Glad his numbers went down. Do you know what his cholesterol levels are? Sounds like you have a vet that cares.

Hi Walter, his cholesterol is normal. But the more I think of it . I really think it’s the holistic two capsules that never digested and diluted in his body which I am going to stop.. thank god I didn’t give it to him every day like the holistic doctor said I can’t imagine what would have happen it none of it dissolved making a bigger problem. But I am still going to give the bark and whiskers detox support only which I have been giving to him since March and this is really I believe that took his numbers down with no side effects. Maybe Cody too small for the statis breaker. He’s still on Palladia for the tumor so at least I have that to control the cancer. My vet is really good, she texts me all hours of the night when I am in panic mode. She knows me real well and I have been going to her for over 20 years. She treats all her patients like her own pets. And she tells me every thing and Very Patient. I couldn’t have asked for a better veterinarian. I have experienced not so good doctors in the past. Cody is doing great today back to his old self I always pray for my little Cody. God is giving him good healing abilities. I just hope I have him alittle longer. Thanks so much!!!!
