Cody has Liver Disease and gets subs Fluids 3 times a week. Today I gave him the fluids and then started to give him a bath later on. While bathing him I saw where the fluid collects under his chest a large red bruise! From the fluid! I am so afraid he’s not clotting right. I am bringing him to the vet tomorrow but wondering if anyone has had this experience with their baby. I attached a photo of the red bruise. Poor Cody he is still eating and acting okay. But I am so afraid, Cody is everything to me. We both are so attached to one another.

Oh no! I am sorry to hear this about Cody--poor baby. He is quite a trooper & I have come to love him! I know you are worried. Please let us know what the vet says. I had a dog once who had something similar & the platelets were low but they do fluctuate so try not to worry until you know what is up. I will be praying for good news!

Hopefully it's nothing to worry about. I know when Lacie got fluids or had a blood draw on her neck, she always got bruised like this. It was not a concern per her IMS.

I hope the vet will allay your concerns. {{{{{}}}}} I found giving sub-q fluids at home so nerve-wracking in general that I understand your worry. But my dog was fine! Hope yours is, too.

I brought Cody to the Veterinarian today and explained to me that since Cody has liver disease it could be that the liver is not working as it should ( liver cirrhosis) or he is not clotting normally from that or from the Palladia Pill he is taking 3 times a week for the cancer. If it’s the liver depending on the PT/PTT test he may need to go on vitamin K. Cody is such a good boy when taking his blood he was shaking as soon as I started petting him and talking to him he stopped shaking. He’s such a big brave boy for a little one. Thankyou all for your input it means so much and please say prayers for him. Cody is the love of my life. I love him so so much . I will keep you posted when I get his results. 🐾🐾

Well I am sitting here crying…. My vet called and said Cody is at end stage liver disease.. meaning his liver is failing.. I can’t even write without my phone getting all wet. He’s on vitamin k and hopefully she says, it should help the liver. I go back in a week to check if his values go down. Just from last month his values went up a lot.
Please says lots of prayers for my Cody I don’t know how long I have weeks months i just don’t know. My vet said her dog had the exact same problems and she only had a month. Okay bye for now. Thanks for listening to me I am so so so sad.

Ohhhhh NO! My heart is breaking w/you. . . I remember so well when we were told Lisi had 3 months at the most. She has beat all the odds so let's just keep hoping that Coster can do the same. You are in my prayers. I will write more tomorrow.

Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry. There has to be something they can do for him! Is this your vet or a specialist Cody is seeing? Maybe a 2nd opinion. Sending prayers to you both. xx

Oh, I'm so sorry about the news you got from the vet. I hope the Vitamin K treatment the vet is recommending will help him. Sometimes they give you the worst-case outcome so you won't have false hope. My little old mix girl that had lymphoma treatment had her lifespan extended several times longer than they predicted. I'll keep up hopes and prayers for your Cody. {{{{{}}}}}

Thankyou all for your support, my days are so sad now, crying all the time. I am taking him off the palladia pill so hopefully and pray by doing that I can salvage his liver and hope it’s not to late. I know once he’s off that pill the cancer supposedly comes back fast and furious. But not even sure what’s happening. If his liver is not working due to age I just don’t know. He’s my miracle puppy I always said. He’s always pulled through. I pray he pulls through but my vet is giving not such good hope. I am devastated by this news , i just can’t see it… he eats barks sleeps and fusses around and still loves his cat food to sneak no vomiting no diarrhea just the blood that’s not clotting. I am soooo worried. Hopefully in 2 weeks when I do a follow up bloodwork I will get better answers. I asked my vet to do a ultrasound and she wants to wait until 2 week results come back. I feel she doesn’t think he’s going to make it. I just don’t know. If you look at him he just looks sleepy all the time other then that he seems okay. I will never give up this Cody is my heartbeat. Thankyou for all your prayers.

Poor little Cody. Sandi related her experience with Lisi, so there is always hope. I hope Cody rallies. Talk to your vet about a diet that will help his liver. Good luck and let us know how is doing.

Just checking in on you & our little guy! You have been constantly in my heart & on my mind & in my prayers. It is, I know, hard to believe "the best" & even to know exactly what that means. Our hearts hurt with you, but I know THAT pain & it can take you down a dozen rabbit holes---all of them deep. Please, please try to stay positive. That may not save him but it will make his journey SO much more pleasant. He takes his cues from you & lives in the moment---make every single one of these moments count for him. He has given you a "royal-try-hard" for a good long time now & now you can give that back to him. Believe me when I say "you are his world" and he can read you even before you speak.
Go w/the advice of your vet (& your own heart)---mine has chosen not to give meds to Lisi (although we tried a few in the beginning) and I do give her the occasional pain relief, nausea relief, etc. but no heavy drugs. She did not tolerate them well at all & I think they made her worse. I am not saying that is something you should consider---you know best. Please know that we are here for the duration & although we can not change anything, we can hope & we can pray & we will be right here beside you! There will be LOTS of contradictory emotions going on so hold a space for them, they are valid but make these current hours & minutes the very best you can manage---that will be enough for him! My love to you!

Thankyou for your beautiful heartfelt words, it touches my heart so much! You won’t believe it his morning I wake up to a corneal ulcer from cataracts ruptured! This poor Cody what pain it is, he takes on so much! Of course the eye specialist is closed until Monday and my vet confirmed the rupture by my photo. He’s on pain meds Tramadol but I hope his liver is okay with it but have no choice. My heart hurts cause he hurts. Thankyou again for all your support and kind words you have a special way understanding me and the pain and love I have for Cody. Thankyou everyone too. It’s so very hard when you Love such a little dog so much.
