Hi!
I am still figuring oute SMand how to post photos. :) I brought home an 8 week old Maltese this past Saturday! Her name is Fleecey and she is an angel!
I'd also like to congratulate Hollywood the Maltese! Hollywood won the toy group last night at Westminster! So happy to see that title go to a Maltese and hoping she takes home best in the show!

She's very cute, even when trying to chew her way out of the stroller! lol

I like the mesh style of harness, too, even though we haven't gone anywhere lately! The tip about putting it in the fridge sounds great!

I live in a hot part of California, and my smart little dogs don't like being out much lately. Yours is obviously smart in that way, too, besides catching on to training already!

Vaccinating is such a dilemma. A lot of groomers won't take dogs that don't have current rabies vaccinations, and some have required more. Fortunately someone in our rescue group recommended a groomer in our area that did not require vaccinations.

Hi everyone!
I hope you’re enjoying your summer and staying cool!
I am looking to enroll my girl in puppy classes but having an issues with the facilities I’ve checked out. Every place that is strictly 10-16 weeks ALLOWS all types of dog breeds. I’ve been reading the forum a lot so I know mixing large dogs with my tiny puppy is not the best idea. I like big dogs but I have to be honest I am somewhat scared of them. I dont know why, I’ve never been bit but anyway I don’t want my fearful vibes to rub off on Fleecey eithea during her classes.
Anyway, if any body has recommendations on puppy classes in the San Antonio TX area please let me know!
Thank you
The puppy classes I attended were nixed breeds. We were paired with a yorkie for activities. I think it depends on how the classes are structured.

In my area, the SPCA gave lessons, with separate classes for small dogs. The small dog classes filled up pretty fast.
Fleecey is beautiful. Congratulations!

Hej! & welcome to SM!
You will get lots of info here & a caring family of experienced people who are owned by maltese! The combined knowledge of the SM community will take you & your baby a long way down the road of happiness & healthiness when it comes to maltese.
Your girl is beautiful & I know you want the very best for her. That 2nd photo really makes me want to pick her up & cuddle w/her!
Be certain you read up on "why not to give a small dog combination vaccinations" but to space them out---that info should also be on this site. Some people have learned the hard way not to do this.
So, again WELCOME! I hope you stick around & share this darling girl w/us!
As the owner of a now 9-yr-old Maltese undergoing GME treatment, I would have done it that way, & avoided flea meds if at all possible. (Link not proven but is apparent.)
But today is a day of celebration of the wonderful, beautiful baby you have in your life! Adorable isn’t descriptive enough! Good choice joining this site. It’s been very valuable to us.
This is the harness I use on my little girl Houdini (she has 4 in different colors)i:

We now live in central TX & it is hot---so this is a cool one & we can also put it in the fridge or get it a little wet for temps over 100 (most of our days now). I had a lot of trouble finding one that fit her!!!!! View attachment 276280
South of Houston, here.
That’s awesome!
What a doll !!!
I cannot vaccinate my dog any more because she had a dangerous , terribly low blood platelet count (precautionary blood test before dental) and now am advised not to vaccinate her. BUT I would really like to advise and warn you your little dog can be easily hurt or worse at dog parks, I have seen many cases where the owners didn't see it coming and one bite put their baby in grave danger.
So please be careful. I had a bulldog charge out of an apartment at us and saved my baby by yanking her up in the air by her harness.
These little dogs are so fragile.
oh and definitely space your vaccines, and NEVER get the leptospirosis. ( And we lived by the lake for years ).
I always had to specify that bc they had to order it with out that vaccine in the booster. Remember you can decide what shots they should have, the vet should support you.
