I am taking Kitzi in to my vet next week when she reopens but have been reading all the postings on LP---have had maltese for 39 yrs. and never had a problem w/this. We have been walking Kitzi since he was very small and about a week ago noticed a little skip on the back left side---thought it might be toenails so out came the clippers, but still skipping tonight on our walk.
He has never jumped up or down on anything and is always carried down/up stairs---only the walking and running "fits"---or zoomies! He also stands on his back legs & sort of walks around sometimes when he is being cute. We have marble floors and balconies and wooden floors w/rugs in the other rooms.
He has not yelped or whimpered ever. It doesn't seem to bother him at all.
I am trying to educate myself about LP so that my vet can help us. I don't know if there is a board certified specialist/surgeon here in Athens or not---I will be in the US in Dec.
Anyone who has experience w/LP---what are the dosages of cosaquin/glucosamine? Should the vet do an exray immediately? We are trying to keep him quiet (sure!) and won't walk him until we know more.
Any advice?
