It is important to both brush and comb or else you will get tangles. Brush out and then comb out. Having a tiny set of clippers for any mats is helpful. Do not use scissors at getting mats out because they are often close to the skin. Brush the teeth with doggie toothpaste or gel twice each day. I do not use product daily, just shampoo once a week. Get a fine tooth comb for the face. Casper loves grooming time; Luck not so much. With Luck we went to the groomers every 6 weeks. Casper does not mat a d is so easy to groom, I am doing 8 weeks between groomer appointments with him.
Every morning after the girls breakfast I brush their teeth, I use Bausch and Lomb advanced eye relief eye wash around their eyes with a q tips
I then use Chris Christensen Ice on Ice Ultra dematting spray when I find a mat
I then comb their hair fix their topknot and brush Geneva in the evening, Maddie has a thin fine coat that doesn't mat often, but Geneva has a very thick heavy beautiful coat so I spend time brushing her, sometimes I brush their teeth in the evening
I use to take the girls to the groomers every 6 weeks, but I am growing their coats, so I groom their feet and private areas weekly at bath time
Cute fluff, congratulations!
I use Les Pooch products on my three. Have every CC comb and brush but my new go-to is the wet brush flex. It’s really flexible and doesn’t pull on them. Detangles very well.
I try to brush their teeth daily, my two Korean fluffs had very bad teeth and had a lot of their teeth removed very young. The dental specialist recommended Virbac tooth paste. In fact, if you go to dog dental association, they list all approved products by them for plaque and tarter. It’s very important to get your boy used to brushing, especially if he is on the smaller side because their mouths are so small and teeth are crowded.
Best of luck to you.
We took Maddie to the groomers, it seems weird leaving her all alone😶
It has been over a year I had her in long coat but she gets so hot
she loves going on walks the harnes was leaving little mats under her armpits
and under her neck area.
I have Geneva in full coat she doesn't like walks much...
I have heard mixed info in how many baths a Maltese should have. Some say every week, some every 15 days, others monthy. Also, some people say that frequent baths is actually not good for the coat (which is the aproach I took towards my Samoyed and, sincerely, he doesn't stink...
Pipper has a grooming appointment Tuesday. This will be the first time at the groomer since the pandemic started. I'm a little nervous because I haven't been anywhere around other people. I get groceries online and pick them up curbside and same with anything else I need. Only place I go...
My Maltese Gianni has very dense, thick, wavy hair. Since a baby he has been impossible to groom. Jumping, twisting and biting, so he goes to groomer every three months. In these troubling times, all groomers are closed. Right now his hair is badly matted. Going to attempt with clippers today...
