Last night was Lily's first night with us. A little bit rough (on me!) but all good. I put her in her little crate at about 12 am though she had been alternating sleeping and playing in the family room on the 2nd floor with my husband and I. She didn't cry or anything and went right to sleep. At 2:30 she started to cry and I woke up and took her out. She peed right away and I was able to put her in her crate and she slept some more.
At 4:30 we had a repeat...but this time she was in no mood to sleep. She wanted to PLAY! I went into the family rom with her, shut the door and made sure the floor was free of things she shouldn't get into it. Her toys and blanket kept her busy for awhile while I dozed on the floor. Pretty soon she dozed with me...until 6:15 and again out to pee.
This time we stayed in the living room. I fed her and we played with her stuffed hedgehog. I drank coffee. LOL! At 7 had to go outside to poop and so I took her out and she went right away. (She's only had two 'accidents'--the first time she had to pee and I didn't recognize her cues & one today when my husband was watching her while I showered and he didn't recognize her cues yet). And then we slept together on the floor until 9. That was nice! I think we both were really tired.
Today was spent playing with Lily & her brothers. We took them for a walk --Lily would walk a couple hundred feet and then stop and sit down. When I would stop she would run over and paw me until I picked her up. I would carry her for a bit and then put her down again. We did this quite a few times but she's walking on her little leash pretty good. I think her brothers set a good example.
There was lots of naps and bouts of playing. She especially loves to 'kill' Riley's stuffed cow when we make it 'moo.' Out in the yard she can't decide if she hates the grass or loves it. The first couple of times she was in it she shook and quivered. Then she wagged her tail and bounced and rolled all over it. The last two times she's been out she's been pulling it up in great (for her--it's really like 3 blades of grass) hanks of grass.
We also took her to the local pet store--not too far but we want to make sure she gets used to the car because we take our dogs everywhere with us--hiking, camping, random car rides (no one gets left in a hot or a cold car so no worries), etc. And my husband and I picked her out a tiny collar and my husband, Rick, picked out her name tag. It's a pink little heart--the littlest one they had. It only has room for her name and my telephone number. It was so cute to see him pick out pink stuff.
As soon as we got in the car we put it on right away which is why she has so much 'stuff' on in the picture. Back at home she played nonstop for an hour and is now fast asleep next to me.
I'm so infatuated with her...I hope this kind of post was okay because I'm just aching to tell people all about my day with her. =)
