I think Tucker has an ear infection. I am gonna try to get him to the vet either this afternoon or tomorrow morning. My poor baby!!! He just had to go to the vet exactly two weeks ago today because he hurt his leg. The vet said it was just a sprained muscle. Hopefully he will be all better real soon.

Poor baby. I hope he is feeling better soon! Do you know how he might have gotten it? I know my last maltese got them alot as a youngster, but once I realized I had to super dry her ears after every bath she never had another. I dont know if it was cooincidence or if I in fact had been getting and leaving water in her ears. Phoebe seems to have alot of wax so I worry that she might have trouble too so it might be a puppy thing.

I'm really not sure. I just noticed that one ear was very red and the other was not. Also, he had been scratiching at that ear a little bit and it seems to have a bad odor. Although I remembered this morning (after seeing him do it again) that he likes to roll around in the grass and usually starts by rubbing his face/head onto the grass
maybe this caused it. Who knows...

If it stinks then there probably is an infection. Paris' ear smelled horrible when she had an infection.

Conan and Apollo both had ear infections. In fact I just took Conan back to the vet for a re-check. I put the drops in his ear for the full 7 days and it seems there is still a little bit of an odor in his right ear. I didn't know you have to make sure the groomer pulls the hairs out inside the ears. This way it prevents ear infections. I'm sure your baby will be all better soon!

I took Lacey to the vet today because I thought she had an ear infection - I still do. We didn't get to see our regular vet, she had an emergency, so we saw one we never have before. I told her all of Lacey's symptons. She looked in Lacey's ears and said no. She looked at her eyes and said she had eye infections and gave us an eye drop called Sterile Ophthalmic Suspension. I am to put a drop in her eyes once a day for the next 5 to 7 days. My vet listens to me. She knows I know Lacey. She herself has looked in Lacey's ears twice before and said she didn't think Lacey had an ear infection but she would swap the ear and look under the microscope and it always came back she had an ear infection. This vet today wasn't interested in what I had to say. I am mad. In my opinion Lacey's eyes are fine, I know she has an ear infection in her left ear. So tomorrow we are going back to see our regular vet. I am taking the medication back and I am insisting I not be charged an office visit fee. I had to pay $38.70 for a vet tech to weigh Lacey and nothing more. No other service except to tell me what she weighs. I could tell them what she weighs! As you can tell I am a little upset. This visit cost me $97.00 and I feel that she was treated for something she doesn't have a problem with. Oh well, at least our regular vet listens to me.

Lacey's mom,

That really sucks about the vet. I had the same problem when they double booked my vet and I had to see a different one...she could care less what I had to say and pretty much ignored me
. I hope you and Lacey have a better appt tomorrow and that she gets well soon

Took Lacey to see our regular vet...and she does have a slight ear infection in the left ear. My vet is great and she listens to me. She tells me all the time that I know Lacey and she doesn't so she listens to what I have to say. The vet yesterday didn't listen to me at all. Oh well, at least we got to see the regular vet and the problem is getting taken care of. But she did tell me to put the eyedrops in Lacey's eyes for the next 5 days. Lacey's left eye is a little red, proberly from the ear infection and it might give her some comfort.

ear infections suck. I remember when Peaches had one and she would scratch her ears like crazy. I felt so bad for her. When I took her to the vet, they gave me otomax and some ear wash to clean her ears out daily. Hope he feels better soon

Poor Tucker! I hope he gets well soon. Cloud use to get ear infections every other month! So I know how badly they SUCK! But once you get the ear drops, it takes a couple of days or less to notice a huge improvement. Kisses to Tucker!

Well, I took Tucker to the vet Friday afternoon, and yes he does have an ear infection. The vet gave me some earwash to use daily for two weeks and then he said probably once a week, for maintenace. Also gave us some ear medicine to use for the two weeks. I am already seeing an improvement. The vet wants to see him back in two weeks to make sure all is well. While we were there, I also had him re-check the leg that he hurt on July 14th, because he had still been limping occasionally. He said that everything seems to be okay with it, but if he's still limping by the time we go back on Aug. 12, then he may have to sedate him and try to look further into it. So far, I have not noticed any limping since our vet visit. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best. I really don't want to have to put my poor baby through anything else right now.
