They don't seem very interested in the Malt do they? Bummer. They did go back after the commercial and showed her very briefly. Her name is Sasha and I didn't catch the breeder's name.....

They're never interested in the malt, every year. Yes, I did see the very brief clip

If it's not the peke...then it's the pug. And if Coleman the toy poodle is there...then it's him. It's breed discrimination, I tell ya!

Seriously...I would probably fall out of my chair if the malt actually got pulled for group. I'm thinking there are some politics involved...when isn't there. But I would really like, just once, to see the malt get SOMETHING.

The peke won BIS and the judge just happened to be a peke owner. Seems like it would be difficult to be unbiased... :new_Eyecrazy:

When I see show Malts in full coat like that I swear I get chills... it is just the most beautiful sight.

I mean no offense to Peke fanciers.....we all have different tastes....BUT you could barely even see that the Peke's face. It was like a waddling fur ball. I just don't get it.

I don't get it either.

My daughter and I often watch the re-runs of past dog shows on Saturday mornings and it is often the Peke that wins! I don't like Peke's in full coats.
I think they look very un-kempt to the un-trained and un-knowing eye. There are so many more "eye-catching" dogs and ones that seem to exude more personality. But since they have never called me to be a judge, I guess my opinion is useless...

I mean to offense either to Peke lovers or owners, just my opinion...

It seems they ALWAYS skip the Maltese and only show them during commercials.
They usually do that with the Borzoi too, another breed I am fond of. Oh well.
I was just wondering, what has happened to Thriller? He is such a beautiful dog, he couldn't have retired already, has he? I saw in another post he is fathering puppies, so it sounds as if he is having a happy dog life, but why isn't he competing?

Yeah, I kinda don't "get" Pekes, either. But then, I know people who don't get Maltese because of the topknots and the way it makes them look like they are frowning fiercely because of the hump it makes over their forehead.

But I do get those chills when I see a full coat Malt prancing around the ring......I guess it takes another Malt owner to know what goes into getting that silky perfection. And their black points just make you want to kiss 'em pink!

Let's not forget that the competition isn't based on which is the cutest breed, etc. The winner is one that presents himself/herself well to the judges and is supposedly the best representation of the breed standard.
