Ok I think I may have spoiled my little guy. The first week he was here I had made chicken soup for the family so I poured alittle broth on his dog food. Now he won't eat it dry. Should I make more soup or make him figure out that it was a treat. And is there anything wrong with him having his food moist?

Chicken soup can be rather high in sodium. Maybe try just a tablespoon just to get the smell in to his food. I can't recall how old he is. If he is a puppy, you may need to moisten the food if the kibble is large because he may not be able to chew it. But try just moistening with warm water over the long term.

Kallie/Catcher's mom is correct that chicken soup can be high in sodium. You could try the sodium free chicken broth. With him just being with you a week the lack of food interest might be because of the new adjustment. There is absolutely nothing wrong with giving him moist food. Whatever it takes to get these babies to eat.

Thanks for your feedback. He actually finally ate the rest of his dry food last night before bed. So maybe he is getting the idea.

I too was going to suggest the low sodium chicken broth. When I make soup I never add salt as we don't use it so that is fine if you do it that way and make it from scratch. I had to moisten Scooby's kibble when he was little too as they don't seem to like it hard, it's just too hard for them to chew with their little baby teeth I think.

I am laughing at this topic only because I have always been crazy about not using or adding salt to anything and always use low sodium items. The doctors just told me to add salt to my diet.

Anyway, I feed Teddy naturally and so I almost always make his food in Low sodium vegetable broth. I don't think it is a bad thing to give our little ones people grade food.
