I have a question about a tree in my yard that produces a cherry like fruit. A Native American , from the Seminole tribe, who used to live next door called them Fox cherries, and said they were OK to eat. I saw him eat some. The squirrles enjoy them too.

But chocolate, grapes and some other things WE eat are not OK for dogs. Well, Spookie found one on the ground today. I got it away from her, but it made me wonder.

This may not be the correct name for this fruit, it is about the size of a cherry, but orangeish in color. Does anybody know anything about these, or how I could find out?
Thanks

I think the Seminoles named them that since the foxes ate them...lol. There was a fox tribe also. I think black cherries are orange (go figure). I do know some blossoms can be toxic so you might want to check with a nursery.
