I was speaking with an online friend today who is from NYC. To my surprise she had never heard of goetta. So, I decided to look up a pic for her and I am seeing that it is more of a regional food. I have eaten this German-origin food since I was little...the pic I am going to post has it sliced really thick like a sausage patty but I like to crumble it and fry it crisp!

I've never heard of it.

Has anyone ever heard of Turkey and Dressing sandwiches? In Iowa they are very popular. A friend of mine moved to Chicago and was shocked that none of her friends there had ever heard of them. I tried to find something on the internet about them and couldn't. Weird. My family (and every person I know) has made these every year with left over turkey.

www.goetta.com has this description of it...(it is a meat product)

Goetta, a German dish, is often compared to
breakfast sausage or scrapple. It is a unique,
delicious and nutritious mixture of pork, beef,
steel-cut (pinhead) oats, and seasonings
