Okay, I like Halle Berry okay, she is a fine actress. I know this is old but WHY did she win an Oscar for Monsters Ball? Please someone tell me? I saw the movie, thank GOD not with my mom like I had planned, and I was literally disgusted. The movie was a porno to me. There was no "artistic" reason for all the sex, and it was hardcore sex and to me, very raunchy. Also the movie had little to no plot. I mean I understand the father was racist, and Billy Bob was too and then he fell in love (or just boinked?) a Black woman, and the twist was Halle's husband/boyfriend, Sean Puffy COmbs dies in the electric chair at the hands of Billy Bob.

The twist was the climax (no not that kind...) I was waiting for. When the twist was finally revealed to Halle (at the VERY VERY VERY end of the movie) she says nothing to Bob and goes and has sex again.

Okay the crying scene when Halle's son dies was good, but she has done the EXACT same cry in like 3 other movies.

PLEASE DID ANYONE FEEL SHE DESERVED THE OSCAR FOR THIS MOVIE???

Its good that a Black woman won or whatever, but come on, this movie really stunk!

I don't really remember the movie but I thought it was very good. I am not sure if it deserved an oscar or not but it was a good movie. I think she is just so pretty especially with her long hair.

So...back to Monster's Ball. I remember my psychology professor mention that movie is a good example of how someone coming to terms with their feelings and beliefs.

The movie never held my interest long enough for me to watch the end. LOL From the way you've described it, it doesnt sound too great. Who are the judges for these awards?
