hello everyone its been a while since i have been on ... to be honest facebook addiction lol that is on the funny side..

So I am here because boy im worried about my little Luna , I took her to the groomers on monday because her hair was really long !! and her adult hair was becoming impossible to care for and we decided to go short and she had alot of matting , she is real cute im surprised i like it I swore she would never be in puppy cut . The groomer found lots of mats under her arms because of her harness and she shaved her down to the skin her whole tummy , so since yesterday she has been walkin and lifting her leg sometimes while walking im not sure its to try to scratch where she was shaved or patella?? how does it look when they have patella problems ??? she lifts her leg and looks like she will scratch bent in position trying to rotate i dont know if im describing it right , im trying could shave make her itchy belly ????? how would i know if it was her knees? is the leg flexed out ,do they limp , i dont want to take her to vet because of itchy belly ....

thank you so much for listening ...

Hi Anna.... just a guess here, but since it didn't sound like she acted like that before being shaved down, maybe she's itchy from the short shave?
I think it doesn't sound like LP what Luna is doing. I thought LP involved keeping the leg straight but lifting it off the ground so as to not put weight on it. I could be wrong, but I was afraid Casanova had LP and I remembered my vet saying he didn't and explaining it that way.
Thank you soo very much for taking the time to listen ....
you guys are always there when someone needs to be heard awesome people godbless you !!!!

Hmm....If she is itchy from the groom, did the groomer bathe her after the cut?
If the groomer didn't bathe her after the cut,
she could have cut hair that is clinging to her, making her itch.
Maybe she needs a bath (or a sink!)
Excellent point!!! Try giving her a little bath and see if that doesn't fix it. I home groom sometimes and try to do that - shave down first, bath second - to get rid of those itchy loose hairs (I know they're itchy because the ones that work their way through my shirt while I'm grooming make ME itchy :p)
I'm so glad that it sounds like it's not her knees! lol She's just doing an itchy dance! :D I hope Luna gets a bath so that she can be a bit more comfortable ;)

ah hem... and the pictures of her cute new cut are where?
well welcome back , and glad it sounds like shes just itchy , we all know what happens when we shave down there:blush: and yes we want pictures ...
My havanese does that when he gets his tummy and armpits shaved after being really long for a while. It just feels funny to them for a little while. If it does't stop after a few day's maybe get her checked out by a vet but it's probably nothing to be concerned about.
Sounds like it's the little hairs itching her, give her a quickie rinse with water to get rid of those little pieces of hair. Hopefully that will help.
Usually they lick their underside if it's itchy or scraped. Holding a rear leg up while walking sounds like a patella problem to me. I'd have it checked out if it continues.
Also, check the nails on the leg in question to see if one may be cut too short if the groomer cut the nails.
I agree ... it sounds since it just started after the grooming session that it either itches... or just plain feels funny. It should settle down in a day or so, if not then maybe have the vet check just to be sure all is well.
Thank you so much for caring !!!! I will keep an eye on her and let you guys know!

GodBless you and all your fluffs

Anna and Luna!
