I just wanted to say hello to everyone.

I got my darling Princess 9 days ago, on July 16th.

I lost my Lhasa Apso, my precious Fannie, on June 1st.

I had her almost 15 years. She had grown very old and
was in a lot of pain at the end. So, I had to have her put to sleep.

She looked like my princess, only larger. About 12 lbs.
She was all white and followed me everywhere.
I have been pretty devastated. She was my 1st baby.
When we got her my sons were only 7 and 11 years old.
Now my oldest is finishing graduate school and my middle
child, my son, is in the navy, far away in the Persian Gulf.
My daughter, who wasn't even born when I got Fannie,
is almost 13. Her name is Marissa and she is getting the
wonderful experience of a new puppy.

We also have two Chihuahuas we got last summer.
They too love the new puppy and all are playing together,
getting along nicely.

Princess's full name is Princess Emily Bedazzled. She is 14 weeks
old now. Her DOB is 4-16-2005.

I am finding out that Maltese need a lot of care, but that's okay.
I can't work because of my health and I'm starting to get empty nest
syndrom. So, pretty Princess is just the new baby I needed.

I would love to hear from any and all out there wanting to chat or give
me any advice. I'm really glad I found this site, and I'm sure I'll use it often.

Sincerly,

elcome!

I'm so sorry to hear about Fannie.... I know how you feel .... I lost my first Maltese, Rosebud on June 10, 2002.

I'm so glad you didn't wait too long to get a new baby. And you were very wise to get her at past the 12-week mark. So many people get them at 8 weeks and there is just such a difference in adjustment, etc. when we wait until 12.

Glad you found us here at SM and I look forward to hearing all about Princess!

Thank you so much for the condolences. That means a lot.
I'm sorry for your loss of Rosebud, (what a cute name).
I know we never truely get over it. I lost my toy poodle, Coco, 8 years ago,
and I still miss him.

I had both Fannie and Coco creamated and they each have a very special place in my bedroom with their urns, pictures, and other momentos. They were like husband and wife, so I'm sure they are together again on the other side of Rainbow Bridge, and that makes me smile.

You are so right about waiting untill she was 12 weeks. I got my lovely Bambi at six weeks last summer, and boy, did I learn the hard way! (She is my tall, long legged, graceful Chihuahua.) About 4 days after I got her she became deathly ill. She had to spend about 5 days and nights at the vets in intensive care. She was hypoglocemic. They weren't sure she would survive, but thank goodness, she did, and is so playful and happy now.

With warm regards,
Princess's Mom - Fredda
