Is this guy a jerk or what??

So basically I had an extra large dog crate sitting around my room. When Yeager was little, I put the two halves of the crate together to create a trench play area for it. ANYWAYS. I bought it for $30 off Craigslist but when it came it was very filthy(the previous person used it to raise chickens). I gave it a good scrub and yesterday sold it on Craigslist for $40.

When the guy came to pick it up, he had a measuring tape and he measured the crate and said the measurement I mentioned in my post was correct and that he was satisfied, so we exchanged money/product and it was a done transaction.

This morning he e-mailed me and said that the measurements I put up was incorrect and he demanded a refund. WHAT?! He measured it himself last night!! Of course I refused. As anything on Craigslist was sold "as is" and it's "buy at your own" risk. I even sent him some e-mails of other people who wanted to buy the crate. Anyways, he was very unpleasant threatened that he wanted to come to my home again to "talk in person." I just ignored his e-mails and he just sent me one saying "no worries! I just sold it for a profit at $55 LOL"

What a jerk!! He didn't need to tell me that!:angry:

Sorry for the long post but I just needed to rant!!

 Jerk is a good description. Hmm, I just hope he didn't sell it to one of the other people who wanted to buy it from you.
Sounds scary :(

Next time never let someone come to your house (you can see why). When I've sold stuff off Craig's List I've met them at a coffee shop (somewhere public and busy). You never know who is on the other end of the computer. It's probably actually a good thing he sold it at a profit because now he will probably forget about you. Who needs that kind of drama for $40? :( (Don't answer him back about his profit post, obviously...he needs to just go away)

Sorry you had that experience ((((hugs))))
I've heard scarey things about meeting people on Craigs list, each time I hear them it reaffirms my choice to go Ebay route or local paper.... Luckily all he did was be a jerk, these days it can end up in so much more danger now...... Kinda sounds like he had all this planned out, thought it fell through and then he sold it anyway.Sounds very strange....
I don't think I'd let any stranger come to my home for something I listed on the internet....scary!!!

Stay safe.....
Man that guy IS a jerk! I swear, there are soooo many weirdos out there! I would be so careful!!
It sounds like he needed it that particular evening,
and then wanted to return it after he had used it.

I like the above suggestion of meeting someone (and go with a buddy) in a public coffee shop.

Must have been kinda scarey for you!
wow..he is a chump =/ its ok..at least you don't ever have to see his face again...Twinks and I have your back!
wow he just sounds like a low-life. some people just don't grasp the concept of being polite and respecting others. i think it's kind of sad that he did that. not only is it creepy and scary, but it's just down right rude and a little sad. erh, the guts some people have!
:sLo_grouphug3: thanks for the support guys :sLo_grouphug3:

It was a stressful event, and very surprising too since so many people use Craigslist to buy used stuff, and the crate wasn't even worth that much.

I'll definitely take your advice and meet at a public place next time if I ever use Craigslist again.

The guy is actually a young professional, his e-mail is from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
I'm glad this is over for you now..but please be careful..there are a lot of very strange and dangerous people out there..and a lot have very reputable jobs/professions.
That's for sure. Remember the child molester sting Date line did,a guy that worked for Homeland Security,a Rabbi, policeman all sorts or jobs that involve a high degree of trust ,many professionals, doctors, lawyers,a few high ranking serviceman, all sorts including lowlifes and unemployed, all ended up in the child molster sting, you just never know....
I just saw something about a Manhatten oral surgeon who ended up in a body snatching scheme w/ funeral homes to sell body parts to labs and hospitals....
I know working the geri psych unit, many young professionals were high strung,rude,clueless...on the same psychotropics as many of our psych patients......
Yuck! Sorry you were treated like that. I'm very wary of buying and selling on craigslist because of stories like this one.
I'm so glad that you're okay! This could've been pretty bad!

What a jerk!! I hate how some people think they can push us ladies around by trying to scare us... The nerve!!
They guy was a d*ck--and scary.

Please...don't ever let someone from Craigslist come to your house. Were you alone? I certainly hope not. I wouldn't even let them in my yard. It's best to meet at a central, public location. Not worth the risks involved.

I had a feeling that he was doing this because he saw that I'm a "little girl" :eek2_gelb2: :smmadder: lol I wonder if he'd be scared if I had a big german shepherd instead of a small dog :p

It was at my school residence, my roommates were there and he measured the crate in front of them too!! so I have witnesses.

Definitely learned my lesson.
What a jerk is right! Yeah, I agree don't ever, ever, ever disclose your address on Craig's list. I once bought really great tickets and couldn't go to the event so I posted on Craigslist for the very same day and managed to sell them to this, for all I know, great guy - I immediately thought he was pretty legit as he gave me his work address and his brother's restaurant address but still, I insisted he meet me at a Starbucks - very public place - during the day. All went well, but sometimes it can be pretty scary - and to say "let's talk in person" whoaaa...who'd say that?!?! if not to intimidate?!!?
And remember, Craigslist has been part of some pretty scary and lethal encounters. My fam and I actually stayed at the RI hotel where that girl got killed - was it last year? Very freaky! But we also saw James Woods and his entourage there. What a weird weekend. Just be careful! There are a lot of shady people out there and us nice people don't always realize this.
