okay here goes:

we use pads. bisou won't go twice on it..so I probably go through too many a day. I think one of the possible disadvantages of piddle pads is that they learn to go whenever they want and not hold it....and bisou seems to tinkle a lot.

I do everything for Bisou. My husband made that clear before I even brought her home. he does shower her with love, affection and play time..so that's okay with me.

I use Nature's Miracle and sometimes I use White Vinegar when mopping (or I should say my Ayi does)

Bisou is a big fan of peeing on the edge of the pad. I do have a little pad tray down..but she loves the edges for some reason.

I used to use a water bottle, but have stopped this (I think it hosts too many germs) so now we use a bowl. I fill it twice a day with fresh water because she gets food in there sometimes.

I feed twice a day- once around 8am and then again at 6pm- or so. Bisou always does her business about 5-10 minutes after eating. I clean that up asap from her pad and flush it.

If it's nice out, I'll bring Leila out to go potty. Otherwise, she goes on her pads.

We spend most of our time either in the livingroom or up in the bedroom, so she has one in each room. If we spend time in the basement, I make sure I bring one down there and show her where it is. As long as I show her, she'll use it no matter what.

We change once a day or so. Since it's split up between 2+ pads, it's not a problem. I clean them up. Leila doesn't get a messy bottom anymore, though, and since she went to the groomer her hair around her pee pee area was clippered off so I don't have to deal with that either.

Leila used to be really bad about her aim--always on the edge. But she has gotten much better now. I got used to keeping an eye on her until she finally squatted and if she was too far off I'd scoot her back. Now she always faces herself to the outside of the pad, so she usually hits the middle--thank goodness!

I'd use Nature's Miracle, although I haven't had to use it in months.

I refill the water bowl daily, or if she drinks it all before that. She drinks Poland Spring, so I don't want to be dumping it out all the time.

I free feed, too, but Leila is so little that I don't mind her having access to food all the time. Still, she only poops once a day, usually first thing in the morning. SOMETIMES twice, but rarely. If he's pooping that much, I would guess he's either being WAY overfed, or the quality of your food is low so he is not absorbing that much out of it--just in one end and out the other. I'd be concerned about it and experiment with some different food. Then again, I'm paranoid.

My fluffs go out side - we started with pads and then got rid of them.

I'm usually the one that takes everybody out. My husband and daughter do it if I ask them too but most of the time it's me.

I feed twice a day - breakfast and dinner in measured amounts.

The dogs usually poop after each meal but some days they only poop once.

If we have an accident in the house - i am the one who cleans it up and I use Natures Miracle advanced.

I wash and refill the water bowls daily.

Hope that answers your questions.

Both Bianca and Bitsy use both pee pads and outside. We keep the pads in the upstairs bathroom and the downstairs laundry room. Neither of them will go on them twice and we are considering switching to washable pee pads. Its a rule at our house that the first one that sees a dirty pee pad is the one to replace it. Bitsy does use the corner of the pad when its time to poop, unfortunately the only thing in the corner is her with her butt off the pad and that places the poop right off the edge of the pee pad and on the floor. She'll go on the pad and scoots and looks behind her and then continue to scoot and look behind her to make sure she's on the pad...she is, but her butt isn't. She tries though, she's 9 months old.

I feed them both twice a day, first thing in the morning and then again at 7:30 at night. Bianca poops twice a day and Bitsy whenever the mood strikes her (3-4) times.

We rinse out and fill the waterbowl as needed. If its empty, Bianca stands in front of it and barks until someone fills it back up.

I'm the caretaker - I do the feeding, the brushing, the bathing (except when they go to a groomer) and as a result. They are both always stuck to me like glue.

thanks so much for your responses. Im thinking of changing the pee pad to the living room behind the couch , because the idea of having him pee n poop in the kitchen is not too appealing to me lol .. do u think he will adjust or do u suggest i get him used to the living room n then take away the pee pad in the kitchen.. about the over pooping, i think i might be over feeding him maybe ... i mean the instructions say 1 cup daily i think , n he might have that plus treats in between. So question is do i just put a smaller quantity and leave it ? or just feed in morning n if hes not done by the time im ready to leave to work remove? i just get afraid he could get hungry while noone is home .. lol

I feed Wellness , but i want to try natural balance but i dont want to mess his stomach up , so do i mix half n half when i do start , which one do you guys recommend?
See less See more
Liza, I would slowly more the pee pad towards the location you want it in. You want to make sure they can find it quickly when they need to.

I too use Natural Balance, duck and potatoe, small bits. By dogs love it. I would slowly mix in 1/4 natural balance and 3/4 of what they're used to and gradually increase the Natural Balance.
yes leandra I am going to try that ! thanks .
I have three areas where pee pee pads are kept in my house.

One is upstairs in the bedroom (I had a box built to hold the pad - about 4 inches high)

One is in the livingroom tucked away behind furniture - that one has a pad holder from PetSmart

One is down in the family room (another box that someone built for me)

The two girls use the pads AND go outsdie. Abbey must use a pad as soon as I put a new one down - ALWAYS!! :smilie_tischkante: Guess she's claiming it. Ava uses it when there's no one around to open the door for her (she doesn't do "doggie doors")

Archie will use the upstairs one - in the middle of the night if necessary.

All of them would rather go outdoors.

I go through a lot of pads in my house, I buy them, I change them, I do anything having to do with taking care of dogs. But they are my dogs and I don't mind doing everything for them.

He is about 3.5 maybe a lil more. And he just turned 8 mths on the 12. I mean sometimes he doesnt eat the whole thing but he does have access to it. So I am over feeding ? :brownbag:

how much should i be feeding .. oohh dear
Lacie was pad trained as a puppy and used the pad almost exclusively until she was about a year old and we moved to New Mexico. We have a doggie door and the girls go outside most of the time. If the weather is bad, I do put a pad down in an area of the kitchen and I use an old bath mat under it. Lacie will go there and Tilly just does whatever Lacie does. We also do this if we're travelling and staying at a hotel.

As far as odors go, I've found that it depends on what the surface is. For example, I have tile throughout my house and instead of just sealing the grout, we also sealed the tile itself before moving in. If the girls have an accident (which is very, very, very seldom) I just use my regular floor cleaner and then I just my Shark Steamer on it.

I feed twice a day -- once before I leave for work (I use a little kibble then), and when I get home from work (this is the main meal of the day). I fill the water bowl at the same time -- twice a day.

I clean poop off of butts (when needed) and clean up everything with the girls (even when Jerry was able to be at home). He did do the poop in the yard, but I do it now. My girls usually poop twice a day.

It sounds like Dolce is eating just fine. He doesn't seem overweight. When I had only 1 dog, I would also free feed and she would only eat when she was hungry and was never overweight. I think most can monitor their own food needs.

Is your fluff wee wee pad trained or outside or both ?
Both - when it's nice they go outside

if wee wee pad trained where do u keep the pad ?
The pad is out in our attached sun room. I keep the door closed and they have to ask to go out. I had it our garage in our other house and the balcony in our apartment. I do not like letting them have access to it whenever they need to go, since they will not learn to hold if if you do that. Instead of taking them outside to a yard I take them out to their pad.

how many pads do u use ?
Usually only two a day

whos in charge of cleaning up pads and fluff butts ?
Me - who else? :)

how many of the wee wee pad fluffs pee on the edge of the pad ?

if wee wee pad trained where do u keep the pad ?
Micky is doggie-door trained. I've never had a dog that uses pee pads, I can't get past the ick factor of a dog peeing/pooping in the house.

how many pads do u use ?

N/A

whos in charge of cleaning up pads and fluff butts ?

If Micky needs a butt bath, its usually a joint job with my grandpa. He holds Micky still, while I cut or wash off the stuck poo.

what detergent do u use to remove odors ?

This is rarely an issue, but when we first got him we used vinegar, and Nature's Miracle

how many times do u fill the water bowl?

Once a day usually, unless he drops a kibble in it, then its changed right away.

how many times do u feed ? ( i free feed i gotta stop!)

I've always free fed. He gets 1/3 cup a day. Seems like not very much, but he also gets "treats" from grandma and grandpa all the time, not much I can do about that

how many times a day does ur fluff poop?

Usually once or twice.

I am the person incharge of cleaning baileys butt if need be no one else will do it :)
Is your fluff wee wee pad trained or outside or both ?
Whoops forget one! He is both. He goes out all the time while we are home. When we go out his pad is in the kitchen where he is locked in, just incase. And at our cabin he's only allowed on the deck, so he goes on a pad there.

if wee wee pad trained where do u keep the pad ?
It is in the kitchen by the door that is always shut, that leads to our mudroom, that leads to the outside

how many pads do u use ?
One washable one, and sometimes throw away ones on top...but he likes to eat them :HistericalSmiley:

whos in charge of cleaning up pads and fluff butts ?

how many times a day does ur fluff poop?
Like 2-3 times. Morning, throughout the day and evening.
