Gee I know how you felt. I had worked for a company in "middle management" and somehow I landed up with the job of "letting go" many employees that were below me. the company was in financial trouble. After a while people knew what was coming if they were asked in to my office. The day after Christmas I was out in the field and my secretary calls and tells me that Ed needs to see me immediately. he was the big boss. I figured he needed some contracts I was working on. I prance in to his office, contracts in hand and BOOM.....he fires me. All worked out in the end and dont be offended cause the escort routine on peoples' exits is pretty standard. Onward and upward to the next thing! Good luck.

Yip, I went into work, and 15 minutes later I was escorted out.  Don't you love it when that happens.  The upside is that I get to spend more time with Gizmo.

I'm so sorry to hear that. But, on the bright side, you can my club...I was laid off on election day...argh! Make sure you file for unemployment immediately. Here in NY, there is a week waiting period before you actually see a check. I should have my first one tomorrow or Thursday.

Did they at least give you any severance? Keep your chin up...I know its difficult to believe that your life will ever be normal again...I live that one every day, but I am at least getting some positive things out of this: losing weight (the unemployment diet plus I never realized how much junk I used to eat at work), I now see the inside of my gym every day instead of once every 4 months, Rocco gets to sleep in with me every day (I like that one!), and hubby is getting fresh, healthy homecooked meals every day. Oh, and our apartment has never looked better! Re-reading what I just wrote makes me realize unemployment isn't the worst thing that ever happened to me. Might actually be the best, I've never felt better!

Many companies have their budget arranged on the basis of the calendar year and that is why people get laid off around Christmas. It is a heck of a Christmas present!

Hi all, I haven't been on in a while as I have to come to my moms house to use the internet now. Thanks for all the kind words. I'm actually quite happy because I've decided to go back to school. The job I lost was marketing analyst at a pharmaceutical company. I will be going to school to study graphic design. I'm not upset much about being laid off. Everything happens for a reason.
