The vet just called me back and let me know that they had just finished the ultrasound and both her heart and trachea look ok. There is a slight enlargement on one of the ventricle's (spellcheck) but he said that it was more than likely something she would outgrow and could have been caused by an earlier respitory distress. It looks like she had a pretty bad upper respitory at one point in time but is on the mend from that so we are all good. there. They are drawing the last blood for her bile acid test in a hour then I can go get her. Does anyone know do I get the results right away from that or do I have to wait?

Oh and the best part she gained almost 2 whole ounces!!!! He said she may just have been stunted from the coccidea and upper respitory infection or just not eating because she didn't feel well.

I told him what I was thinking about doing. He offered me a "gift card" of sorts. I guess the hospital (which he owns) does what they call "care credit" for major surgery's and such so those who can't afford the cost upfront can make monthly payments. But he said that he would allow me to put money on an acct for Loca in case she needs surgery or it can be used for her routine vet bills.

So here is my plan and I am open to suggestions. I called Margie to see if she will be home today and she will be. I am going to put Loca in a basket, with toys, food, dishes, a brush, treats, and the gift card from the vet. I am going to set it on her doorstep and ring her bell. I want to run and hide but I have to remember I am almost 40 so I must act like an adult, so I will just stand a few feet back. I will explain the gift and go from there.

So thats the plan what do yall think? I am getting so excited. I love giving presents I just wish I could wrap her better, but I can't get her to sit still for a decent picture so that idea is out.

I think it's a fabulous idea as long as you're sure it will be well received and not put her on the spot. But she hinted that she might want a Maltese when you took Tundar for a visit, right?

That's fabulous that you can set up a little account for her at your vet's office! (I wish somebody would do that for me!) That first year can be pretty expensive with all the shots and spaying.

I'm thrilled that so far, so good with all the tests. The poor thing had just a terrible start in life, didn't she? It's amazing that one so tiny even survived a respiratory infection especially since she was loaded on a truck and shipped to the pet store.

And she gained 2 ounces already! I knew she would! That's what happened with my Petie. She'll probably end up a perfect size.

I don't know about the bile acids test, but I'm sure JMM will.

Keep us posted on this exciting story.

Well, I am just thrilled with the good news from the vet and of your plans for Margie and Loca.

I'm a very practical person (borrrr-ing) but you know Margie and how she might react to such a surprise gift. Oh, I would also include a book on how to raise a puppy! And a crate. IMHO, I wouldn't introduce her to Loca until the bile acids test results are in.

I think I would ask her if you could come visit... that you have a little friend you'd like her to meet. Then bring the puppy in but without all the goodies and see how she reacts. Then, after they have bonded a little bit you can share the good news that this little puppy is hers and then bring in the goodies, etc.

I also suggest a puppy play pen... it'll make things so much easier on Margie... There are a few threads here on SM about them...

Keep us posted!!!

Sounds like a great report!!

Good luck with dropping the present off...I hope it is received as you are hoping. If not, you can "gift" her to me!

(everyone KNOWS how much I want a girl!
)

Anyway, hope the rest of the tests come back good! Big hugs to you!
Can't wait to hear how Margie responds!

I did a test call last night. I called Margie and asked her if she would mind keeping Tunny while I went to San Diego for Pyxis training next week. She was thrilled to have him and said she had been thinking about getting a dog. I have a crate for her. I don't use the one I bought for Tunder so she can have that one. I know that they have always had a dog but their last dog a basset hound passed away her husband had already been diagnosed so they never got another. I feel so good. I wish I could explain, she helped me so much when I was learning the "corporate" way of things all those years ago. LoL now I am as thick skinned as they come but back then the old boys network scared the heck out of me.

Oh... that is great.... I didn't realize she was already a "dog person"!

I know what you mean about the "good ole boys' club".... and an assistant can make or break you.... some can be back stabbers, etc.... So, it is great that her loyalty can be rewarded. (I'm very lucky that the company I work for is owned by a woman.)

She is back in her playpen in the corner of my office. It is amazing I get any work done w/ everyone coming in to say hi to her. She is a fiesty lil girl though, anyone else have a puppy who likes to pull hair? She will latch on to your hair if she can and hang there til you drag her off. We get the final acid bile results from the vet tomorrow morning. I am going to hold off going to Margie's til I get the results. I want to be sure that lil miss thang is healthy. I look like I walked thru the jungle w/ all the scratches on my arms, neck and chest from her. I am going to pick up my pictures after work tonight so everyone can ms. loca.

Yep... mine pull hair, too! In fact, last night Catcher was sleeping on my pillow above my head and I remember waking up to my hair being yanked... Ouch!

Makes you really appreciate our nice, sedate adult dogs, huh?

Here's hoping that she passes her bile acids test with flying colors!
