Loca's Vet Visit

3214 Views 57 Replies 26 Participants Last post by  Furbaby's Mommie
The vet just called me back and let me know that they had just finished the ultrasound and both her heart and trachea look ok. There is a slight enlargement on one of the ventricle's (spellcheck) but he said that it was more than likely something she would outgrow and could have been caused by an earlier respitory distress. It looks like she had a pretty bad upper respitory at one point in time but is on the mend from that so we are all good. there. They are drawing the last blood for her bile acid test in a hour then I can go get her. Does anyone know do I get the results right away from that or do I have to wait?

Oh and the best part she gained almost 2 whole ounces!!!! He said she may just have been stunted from the coccidea and upper respitory infection or just not eating because she didn't feel well.

I told him what I was thinking about doing. He offered me a "gift card" of sorts. I guess the hospital (which he owns) does what they call "care credit" for major surgery's and such so those who can't afford the cost upfront can make monthly payments. But he said that he would allow me to put money on an acct for Loca in case she needs surgery or it can be used for her routine vet bills.

So here is my plan and I am open to suggestions. I called Margie to see if she will be home today and she will be. I am going to put Loca in a basket, with toys, food, dishes, a brush, treats, and the gift card from the vet. I am going to set it on her doorstep and ring her bell. I want to run and hide but I have to remember I am almost 40 so I must act like an adult, so I will just stand a few feet back. I will explain the gift and go from there.

So thats the plan what do yall think? I am getting so excited. I love giving presents I just wish I could wrap her better, but I can't get her to sit still for a decent picture so that idea is out.

Gosh, this is one for the books... And all this happened in what... 5 days! I love that feeling of doing something good for someone. It's like a major high! When I am in the position to do that I sometimes feel selfish because helping others feels so darn good that I feel guilty for it!!

This is something you can look back on for years to come and get a glow just thinking about it!

I missed the part of this lovely story but have been able to get the general gist of it and I find it a truly heartwarming story.
I have always been of the thinking that those with loving hearts... well the pooches that come into their lives... are meant to be.. That a certain "match" is meant to be and it seems to be the way things worked out in this situation.
I am so happy and it seems to be one of those win-win situations in this particular case.
I think my feeling applys to you as it does to those who do fostering and rescues..
I think you shine brightly in God's eyes!

lol carol ann that pretty much sums it up doesnt it?
I am not sure where it originated or how it is even worded but there is an old proverb that says the more you give freely to those around you the more you will recieve. I personally think we all should live by that.

Margie and Loca are doing wonderfully. I woke them up from an afternoon nap when I stopped by. She did say she is going to keep the name. Funniest part of it all Loca is so mellow around Margie, where as over here she was the demon spawn puppy. Go figure. And K/C's mom I do know what you mean I love doing things for people, I swear I have more fun than they do. My husband gets his gifts weeks before the event because I am to excited to give it to him.

This is such a beautiful story! I know you will be blessed in triplicate for your kind gesture. I would love to see pictures - and please do encourage her to post here.
I've been out of town and have been wondering how things were going. SOOOO thrilled to hear that Loca is healthy, gaining weight, and bringing joy to someone who really needs her. They needed each other! You are a good person. Not only that, but you and Marge could trade baby sitting.....maybe if Loca isn't living with you, Tunder will be more accepting.
Wow! I"m so glad the story has a happy ending (or new begining!). God bless you for your kindness and foresight, bless Loca with a heathy life in a loving home, and Marge in her new found life with Loca!

You did an amazing thing
and I'm so happy I could cry! Do keep us updated on how Loca and her new Mommie are doing, and if she has a computer help her find us!
