I am trying to grow Lilly's fur out and I was just wondering how long it usually takes to get it to a full almost floor length coat? It almost seems like her fur is not even growing much at all.

We went to a new groomer today also. I like this one much better than our last!!! The last groomer wanted me to bring Lilly in every single week! That just seemed really excessive especially since I do bath her every week and I brush her a couple times a day. Our new groomer complimented me on how nice her fur was and that there were no matts in there. That made me feel good since I do try hard.

Well, my experience with my malts is that their hair tends to grow fast. When I first got TicTac (less than a month ago), he had tons of shorter hairs above his eyes that wouldn't stay in the topknot and now there are only a few stray hairs that slip out of the topknot. My Peanut's hair is cottony and matts like crazy so I've always kept him in a really short cut and I can barely go a month without needing to give him a little trim. Of course, there are others here more experienced who can give you better info.

Hair growth varies from Maltese to Maltese depending on genetics as well as care and maintenance. Sparkle and Nibbler have extremely fast growing coats and their hair reached the ground at 9 months but they are also very small so it doesn't have to grow that much to hit the ground. Cookie's coat didn't hit the ground till well over a year .. it was still about an inch off. I have her cut down now and it is growing back slowly.
