Hi All, I was cleaning Cody Eyes and all of a sudden I saw a Lump right above near his little forehead. Looks like it has fluid and this is new. I texted my vet she said it’s a Cyst. It can get bigger and not harmful unless it’s cancer. Cody’s off the Palladia pill. Has Anyone experienced this with their pet?

Dee, sorry to hear!!!!
These are normally harmless (we have had a few) but in Cody's case I would want to be sure. Please have your vet take a look---best to be on the safe side. Thinking of you so often.

Yes, it is hard to tell from a photo. I agree, it would be best to have your vet look at it. It's hard to get appointments some places these days, but I hope you have a good enough history with your vet that Cody will be seen!

I don't remember off the top of my head - how old is Cody?

Every dog I've had has developed some sort of cyst, wart, or lipoma as they age. None have been harmful, and I've only had one removed because it was getting bigger. Right now, Tessa has a 2 cm lump that was tested and shown to be a lipoma so as long as it doesn't get any larger or bother her, we leave it as it.

I tried to take a picture of Lacie’s lump on the top of her head, if you can see it in this picture . It has grown, been there for over 3 years, and is very hard. Its nothing but a cyst. I can have it removed but she would have to go under anesthesia, and I won't do that.

Thankyou All sooooo much it makes me feel so much better!!! Cody just turned 15 in July and this just popped up.I texted my Veterinarian and she said it’s a Cyst usually not harmful but in Cody’s case it could be cancer? She said Cody’s next monthly visit she will look at it in august which is in 9 days. I am hesitating to get it tested. I have heard if things are cancerous and you poke into it with a needle things start up from messing with it. I am sure my vet will not remove it. Thankyou for the photo too! That means so much! It doesn’t seem to bother him, although it’s definitely filled with lots of fluid just hope it doesn’t burst. Thanks so very much ! and I will keep you posted after his visit. 🐾🐾

I’m glad your vet thinks it’s a cyst...it does look like one in your pix. You vet will be able to tell more on his next visit. I also would think if your vet thought it was cancerous, they would remove it asap, rather than leave it.
Of all the lumps and bumps I have found on my girls, only one was cancerous on Ling Ling and they removed it that day. And it definitely looked much different than all the others,

Thanks so much! 🐾🐾 I hope it’s not cancerous did your baby have to get anesthesia to get it removed on the same day or did they just numb it? Cody is very squirmy and since it’s near his eyes I am so afraid.. and I know my vet won’t put him under cause she’s afraid he won’t make it.

They did not put Ling under, however, they did have to sedate her quite a bit. It was on the side of her belly towards the top of her leg. A tender area and they needed to get really clean margins, so it was a fairly good size area that was removed. Thankfully, she didn’t need treatment after that. I wonder if Cody’s looks that suspicious, if an eye doctor would be better removing it. Thats such a tricky area around the eye. I thought it was closer to the top of his head.

For some reason I have the feeling my vet won’t give me a definitive answer by looking at it. She’s going to want to test it maybe? They will have to do a fine needle aspiration to see if it has any cancerous cell and proceed from there.

Oh my!! It is usually soft if it’s a cyst or abscess With cancer it is sometimes hard. Only the vet can decipher with a needle aspiration. Prayers for you & your precious Cody. I have 8 month & 2 year old so all good so far.

Cody had his vet appointment today she said it was a benign cyst and if we drained it, it will just fill up again so for now just to leave it alone. On another note yesterday my other dog molly ran into Cody( molly was in her zoom zoom mode) and she pushed poor Cody to the side . Cody was fine but I saw his Other eye he kept blinking it. So I thought molly scratched his eye by accident. With that said I brought him to the eye specialist after he regular vet visit today. Cody doesn’t have a scratch , molly didn’t do anything. Cody now developed calcium deposits on the eye that’s why he’s blinking. In a way I am glad molly did her zoom zoom because if she didn’t run into Cody, Cody’s eye visit was not until Aug 17 and the eye doctor said by these calcium deposits turn into corneal ulcers! The eye doctor put him on aggressive treatment with 4 drops in this eye to see if this will help. They also mentioned calcium debridement something like they burn the calcium off the eye! Ugh!! The doctor said that procedure does hurt! Poor Cody. Getting older for him is so hard. Now he has two bad eyes. Also Hopefully tomorrow with my regular vet his results liver enzymes go down as well. My Cody slept All the way home he was so tuckered out. But he did get some yummies for being such a big brave boy.

Dee, it seems you & Cody just don't catch a break! I can't imagine how awful you must feel about all of this w/our little sweetheart. Please know, even if we can not change your circumstances, we are there w/you each step you take. It is so hard to see them suffer. Let us hope & pray that the drops really make a difference for him. Cody’s regular vet results too just came back for his liver - and his Liver values have went up higher again.. another 200 increases in the ast and alt and Alkphose. I added extra milk thistle but I guess it hasn’t helped that much and for the past two months of consecutive bloodwork his pancreatic values are on the borderline as well. I just found online liver rescue and liver aid for liver and pancreas and a pill for Denosyl I know the densoyl supposed to be in the denamarin but I am thinking maybe a regular pill of densoyl can be helpful?? Extra added ?? Hoping my veterinarian says yes to some of these supplements.

What about diet, what is Cody eating. Is he on lactulose?

Cody is in laculose once a day, do you think I should do it twice a day? His diet is Royal Canin low fat Gastrointestional wet food I just ordered Royal Canin heptic wet food. He also eats once in a while dry proplan low-fat gastro food. And the only thing he may try to eat is molly food but only a few bites which is the regular Royal Canin small canned wet food. I wish I can give him a food that wouldn’t make his liver work so hard. He also eats 3 or 4 times a day he’s always hungry from the predisolone. Do you have any suggestions with food that he will actually eat. The other thing that is happening the past two bloodwork is that his Pancreatic level is borderline. I am not sure why ? and does this come along with liver disease? Thanks so much walter for all your help and insight It means so much !
