Ok, so I know I'm overexaggerating a little bit but I felt SO terrible taking Aidan in to get neutered today. I actually cried a little bit on my way home. I just felt so bad for some reason. I guess it was just the way I was thinking about it. I take him on a ride and he ends up getting castrated...how pleasant that sounds. They took him from me right away too, the nurse told me to say bye and then he was gone. The poor baby, I hope he's doing alright. It's going to be a long day for him. They also said he's going to have to wear that lamp shade thing for 10 - 14 days, man I want to just go over there and tell them to give him back to me.

Cheer up. I understand your are nervous about the surgery but he`ll be just fine and once it passes you will have a better friend. You and him will be happier and more relaxed. The only thing that was a hassle for me was the cone thingy in his neck, i think he suffered more with that than with the surgery and healing process (that went smoothly).
Just be patient and we`ll be sending good vibes to your boy.

Ty was neutered just two weeks ago so I know what you are going through. HOWEVER........ what you are doing is the RESPONSIBLE thing to do. Your puppy will be better off for it and so will you. It is a safe, common procedure and everything will be fine. Does that mean you won't worry, OF COURSE NOT!!!!!!!!! But everything will be fine!!!!!!! He won't suffer AT ALL, YOU WILL BE THE ONE WHO SUFFERS, you will worry the entire time and for the next week or two you will spoil and coddle him like crazy
. Meanwhile he will have the time of his life and take advantage of you for every minute of every day until he is healed

I did not use the cone at all and had no problem. Ty licked very little and healed just fine. I'd say just watch and see what happens. 14 days sounds like a very long time. Ty was completely healed within a week.

Good luck.

I know I know, it's for his own good. I'm thinking too much about it from a human perspective. I just can't wait to get him back home and to have this over with. I hope you're right about the cone thing because I don't want him to be weighed down by that thing... thanks for all your comments.

We're wishing Aiden good luck!! With my 2 boys, one didn't need the cone or anything and the other just had the cone for one night...lol, he was so curious about what they did to him that he kept trying to look at the stitches, but by the next morning he forgot all about it. I'm sure Aiden will be okay and we're sending out good thoughts and hoping for a quick recovery

I'm so glad everything went well for Aidan. I know how you feel, I had Poochie neutered 1 1/2 months ago. I missed my baby so much. I was also to use the cone collar thing. That didn't go too well. Poochie was running into walls. So we took it off and he was very bad with the licking and pulling on his stitches. We ended up going to walmart and buying some baby onesies, they worked great. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Oh I feel for you too...Harley's spay is Wednesday and I'm a wreck!! But... you've gotten the "it went well" call from the vet, so it will get easier from here

Nikki is getting spayed on Thursday. I'm so nervous about it! I'm trying not to think about it. I can't wait for it to be over with. When I called a couple of weeks ago to make the apointment it took me about 15 min to get up the courage to call.

I know how you feel. Tucker is getting neutered the day before Thanksgiving and I'm already stressed about it. I really don't want to do this to him. He has one retained testicle and they said if I don't get him neutered, he has a high risk of cancer.

Elizabeth I know how you feel. Tucker was at the Vet today for the same thing. Not only that but he got 11 teeth pulled. I doesn't have to wear a collar. He has pain pills to take for 4 days. He is just sleeping a lot.

He has not eaten since yesterday but Vet said he is ok. They did a blood workup before the surgery and Dr. says he is A-OK.

I was a basket case all day. Poor little helpless thing. His little eyes are so tear stained tonight. I know he is ok but it HURTS to see the little man just laying around.

Sam is going to get neutered after Christmas too, lousy Christmas for him.  Sorry Sam
But I'm off that week and don't go back to work until after New Year's Day so I can be with him.  Looks like Rosie and Sam will be recuperating at the same time.

He's back and he's just as vibrant as when he left. I just feel bad because he's been trying to get that darn lampshade type thing off his head. Here's a picture of my little lampshade!
