[Micahs Mama]

I'm a foster parent in Tennessee now going through the process of buying my girl Micah. She's a very sweet baby - about 18 months old who has some issues but we're working on them. This site was recommended to me by some other fosters and I'm glad they did.

From looking around it looks to me like this will be a much more enjoyable home than the site I was trying to join. Thanks for having "us" here. . .

I'm so used to NOT saying anything the idea that I can actually say YES in answer to your question is kind of strange!! I started as a volunteer in late January and brought Micah home in April as my foster. She has slowly taken over the house and I'm honored she is allowing me to continue residence with her, even if only because I have something she doesn't. . . thumbs

Thanks for the warm welcomes, I'll be doing a lot of reading - even though she is not my first rescue dog, she is the first of her kind in my life - so she and I have that much in common...

I'm so glad you were able to keep her. I had been following the case from articles in the "Tennessean" newspaper online.

I'll be a mom forever soon (I hope)!! We're going through the "process" now so I'm not going to go into details about anything as this is too important to me and to her. As for her health - she's in a lot better shape than some - so there I am blessed. My Vet (a wonderful man in Bellevue) wants to run a bunch of tests as soon as this is over to look for any potential problems. He's already mentioned the probability of joint problems because of her build and the amount of time she spent kenneled with another. She was the submissive of the two so was in the back of the cage mostly. She has some issues we're dealing with that are more psycological than physical but the way I see it... we have LOTS of time and she has some angels on her side.

The one thing I want to make sure of is she never loses what she had - Doc Mary, the volunteers and other dogs are her family as much as I am and I hope we have lots of reunions - bringing Micah home was great but I'll admit to suffering a little separation anxiety when it comes to the others. I live too far away from Franklin to continue volunteering after the fostering - so once she was home my focus was on her.

I lost my baby to cancer in November of last year and my volunteering was supposed to be therapy for ME - little did I know where it would lead me.

Welcone! After reading of so many of the disappointments and politcal games that were being played down there in TN, I'm so happy to hear that the foster parents have had some success in moving forward in the process to being "forever" parents.

My furbaby came to me as a rescue with submissive issues, as well as serious fear aggression. I can understand some of what you must be dealing with here and can only say that after having him a little over a year, he is a very different dog. He still sometimes will act out with the fear aggression towards other dogs, but with lots of patience, training, and positive feedback from me and my husband, he is pretty much very well adjusted now. I am now told by friends and my parents that he is a little angel. My prayers are with you, Micah, and all the other fosters, that by this time next year, the heartache you've all had to deal with will be just a fading memory, replaced by lots of happy new memories shared with your "forever furbabies".
