:wub:Be careful with the peppermint oil. It does kill ants but I have read somewhere that it is not good for animals. I too bought a hugh bottle for that same purpose and only after I got it, I read that.
Did they bite the babies or could you tell? I hate ants!!! They are so small but make a big mess!!! Sorry you did not get to sleep in!!!!
No little white fluff was bitten or harmed during this ant attack. And thanks for the heads up on Peppermint Oil. From what I can tell it's talking about straight Peppermint Oil given orally to a dog or cat for whatever reason. I put maybe 1-2 tbsp. into 8-10 oz of water and mix it in a spray bottle. Then I spray the outer edges of my patio. I don't think my babies could get too much that way. Otherwise, I know of no other safe way of preventing them from swarming my patio.
LMFAO ~ Crystal, that sounds like one of my days off ~ :HistericalSmiley:
Oh, and I hate ants. I came home one day, and there was a black trail, forking off, to all three dog bowls. At first, I thought one of the dogs was "scooping" his butt, and made a mess. I was horrified when I realized it was a gazillion ants IN MY HOUSE!!
I must have thrown out a $100 worth of dog food that day.
I love you, girlfriend. My thoughts, prayers, and pain, are with you.
lol...I did think of you my friend! I thought "I'm having a Deb moment! Must come with more then 2 Maltese". :HistericalSmiley:
Aww Crystal. If only a video camera was rolling. :HistericalSmiley::HistericalSmiley: Crazy lady alert. :smpullhair: I just can't even imagine how you were doing all of that. Must have wished you were an octopus (vs. an octomom) scooping up the kids, cleaning them, stomping on aunts and then making ant stew on the patio.
The only time I had a similar middle of the night experience was in Vermont when I heard the garbage can on my front landing rattling.Expected to see a raccoon;instead it was a black bear. I was dancing around (in the house) banging things, switching lights on and off and he just thought I was a lunatic :smpullhair: and dragged the bag nearby for a smorgasbord. Maybe you should start today all over again, tomorrow. Have fun with your parents (if you can keep your eyes open).
EeeGads! A bear!! Glad he was outside and not trying to get in! Bet you had really sweet dreams that night. lol
My lunch with my parents was lovely. However I finally put my foot down and took them (funny how I have so much control when I drive :innocent: ) to the Verizon Wireless store and got them cell phones. I spent almost 2 hours with them in the store helping them pick out the easiest one and then explaining it to them. The salesperson had given up by this time. lol Then we spent another hour in the parking lot as I set their ring tones and volumes, entered certain people into their contact list, and answered the same questions again. I REALLY need a nap! :smstarz:
:smpullhair: That was quite a wake up call!!! I HATE ants!!! I'm always afraid the fluffs are going to step in a missed ant pile - we have the dreaded fire ants. It's must have been horrible trying to get them out of all the fluff's hair.
Would have loved to see a pic of you making ant tea though. :smrofl:
After this experience, they may seriously be getting their leg hair trimmed!
And I did make myself a calming cup of tea once it was all over. :HistericalSmiley:
what a way to start the day...
my Sunday is almost over (almost 10 PM here) and it was relaxing.......NOT lol so don't feel bad; you aren't alone
hope the rest of the day is super for you
hugs
Kat
I'm sorry your day was not all that relaxing either. But at least I was in fine company! Hope you're peacefully sleeping right now having wonderful dreams my sweet little Kat. :grouphug:
OMG! Were they fire ants? They are deadly. They can kill a cat or small dog.
I am so glad Lady will use pee pads! No more midnight potty calls!
I sure hope the rest of your day is better!
Nope...no fire ants. Thankfully we don't have those here. These didn't bite thankfully but I think they can if you are on their nest.
Well yikes!!!!! Not good but at least they weren't spiders......!!!!!
Oh my gosh if they had been spiders my neighbors would have heard me screaming at least 2 miles away!
oh no!! i hope the rest of your sunday can be peaceful and relaxing!!:Sunny Smile:
I'm just getting home and I should be giving baths right now, but instead...I'm checking SM. May have a bit of a nap too.
Oh Crystal, this sounds so much like my life sometimes! I feel for you, dear friend.
lol...are you telling me we have the same luck? Oh I really hope not my friend.
Oh man! lol I wonder what made the ants swarm like that? NOT a good way to wake up at all!
Kinda like when I hear my cat coughing up a hairball in the middle of the night. Its dark and I am just SURE I am going to step right in it...yuck
I loved my kitty, Murhpy. But I do NOT miss those hacked up hairballs! Yep, they always seem to be right in the normal path you take. lol
Yikes!!! What a way to start the day!!!
Eeeek! Not a good way to start the day!
Wish I could have gone back to bed. Oh well...tomorrow will be better I'm thinking! :innocent:
Yikes!
Is it especially dry there this year that they might be looking for water---or do they just know how "sweet it is at your house?" :HistericalSmiley:
Well I do have propensity for chocolate...

And of course 3 of the sweetest white balls of fluff ever!
I have no idea why they are doing this. It happened a couple of times last summer too. We just had a big rain storm so it's not dry. And I don't eat on my patio so there's no food crumbs. Hope this is the last of them.
