Hi Everyone,

My name is Tracy and I have 3 beautiful Fur Babies!

Tessa is the youngest at 14 months. She weighs 3.9 lbs. Tessa is a Maltese that I got at the end of April 2010. She was about 9 months old. She is "Mom's Baby." Tessa is very timid and very attached to me. It has taken her several months to warm up to my dh. Up until now I've had no major issues with her other than her potty training is not going so well and an ear infection a few days after I got her. We just found out that she has eye lashes growing in the wrong direction and so I've made an appointment for her to see a specialist here in Toronto for Monday. I'm really hoping that this is the cause for her major tear staining issues and when the issue is taken care of her tear stains will be no more!! Tessa does also have a very low grade luxating patella that I was told was not going to be a concern. I've never seen it being an issue for her at all....good sign.

Pixie is "Mom's Girl," who is 1.5 yrs old and is a Yorkie-poo. She is all black with hints of silver throughout. She is and always has been a lot of work. The breeder that I got her from would not keep her past 6 wks. When I got Pixie she would not eat on her own and would not lap water. She was only 1.2lbs and had sugar issues. Thanks goodness I got her to the vet the day after I got her or I would have lost her! I had to hand feed her with a syringe every 4 hours! Finally, she upgraded to me having to hand feed her to ultimately eating on her own at 6 months old. At 10 months of age we found out that Pixie had Legg-Perths disease and 3 days before her 1st birthday she had surgery. Femoral head ostectomy that was the surgery she had. We had her in physiotherapy for awhile and she seems to have recovered really good!!

Jack is, "Mom's Boy," who is 11 yrs old and is a Jack Russell Chihuahua cross. Crazy dog!! Love him to pieced but never again. We have had Jack since he was 6 wks old and never had any major issues with him until recently. Since March we have spent thousands on trying to find out what is wrong with him and we still have no clear answers. My amazing Vet ended up moving back to Mexico and with him our only honest vet, until now!! The other remaining vets at the old clinic that we have been to milked us for money over the past few months running unnecessary test on poor old Jack!! This from our new amazing Vet we have seen on Saturday. Jack has an enlarged liver, enlarged heart, adrenal glands and stomach lining, developed a heart murmur, gastritis and muscle loss in his legs. He drinks and urinated a lot and so the Drs. thought that he had Cushings. Tests have come back making all of us confused. One test said that if its Cushing than it is Pituitary gland Cushings but the next test done was normal so not Pituitary Gland Cushings. My new vet said that with the info we had given him along with a simple urine test we could have saved Jack from having all these tests. He basically let us know that we were taken advantage of from the previous clinic!!

Well these are my fur babies and although I've been going through a lot with all 3 of them I would not change it for the world!!

I really hope that this site will be as useful as the yorkietalk site was for me when I had to deal with all Pixie's issues.

Look forward to exploring and getting to know people here!!

Tracy

I tried to post pics of my babies but I cannot seem to do it. Is there anything I need to know on how to post pics? I could not even change my profile pic.

Thanks all for making me feel so welcome.

Welcome. We are from Toronto too; we had anal gland issues with Diamond and found out that the Veterinary Emergency Centre in Toronto has some very good specialists for treating all sorts of problems in dogs and cats. Many of the vets there have taught at the Ontario Veterinary College. If you are having issues, with your little Tessa you may wish to check them out.

Thanks Thatch8. We actually have an appointment for Tessa at the VEC South on Monday. Her eye lashes are growing in the wrong direction (into her eye). We are hoping that this is what is causing her bad tear staining. Where in Toronto are you? We are actually in Pickering.....right on the boarder of Pickering-Scarborough. We just moved here last November from the Warden and Finch area.

We live in Deer Park (Yonge and St. Clair Area) not far from VEC south. The VEC has great vets; they will know the best treatments for your little one. Of course, we have found that, as with human specialists, you have to make sure to ask all your questions because they are so used to every sort of problem that they don't remember that some care instructions that they think are "routine" are not routine for owners.

I looked at your furbabies :wub::wub: in your album. They are DARLING!!!

I do it (posting pictures) through photobucket: Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket
You gotta have an account in that website. You upload pictures from your computer to your photobucket account first then to SM.
Here is a thread that explain how to post from photobucket. Have fun sharing :chili:
