Next Friday is our 27th wedding anniversary  and we will be
spending it in Florida with Mickey Mouse, lol. We have a Disney
timeshare (at Boardwalk) so we've basically gone at this time
of year every other year for the past 19 years. (My kids
and their friends use the timeshare on our "off" years.) Luckily,
my kids will all be home and they will take care of the babies,
so I am worry free for the week. :aktion033:

We always rent a car and travel to Merritt Island or Cocoa Beach
at least one day. We basically just drive around looking for
interesting things to see. Sometimes we visit
NASA or RonJons... but this year, we're looking for someplace
new to see. Anyone know of anyplace interesting (for adults) to
visit in the Orlando area? Any beaches that are particularly good to visit?
Any towns with cute or interesting shops?

Thanks.
Debbie

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Debbie, you've got a year on Dh and I!! Have a great time. I have to say that DH and I had a great time at Discovery Cove at SeaWorld. If you like snorkeling at all it's terrific. Sort of a mini trip to the Caribbean. It has limited attendance so never gets that crowded. The only line you see is when you check in with your concierge (so we got there early). Don't know if you did it yet but it's very not Disney. It could be a one day splurge for your anniversary. You can swim with dolphins but don't need to (cheaper if you don't and I really loved the snorkeling so much that when we went back another year for the dolphins I wasn't that thrilled) but it's sort of like being away at a beach. They give you wet suits and snorkel gear and have THE most beautiful fish I've ever seen.Thousands of them!! You wade into an area where all the fish are and they have a sunken ship. You swim with all of the fish except the sharks and barracudas which are behind glass but right next to you. You get lounge chairs on sandy "beaches." There's a lazy river, a bird sanctuary area, meal that were pretty good and healthy, changing rooms, etc. We went in when it opened and stay ALL day. Was really like a mini vaca inside our vaca. And they also (at least they used to) give you a week pass to SeaWorld as a freebie. You have to reserve on-line and spots open up if things look booked.
Other than that we've driven to the West Coast to do things there but traffic really can be horrible.
Have a great time.

Sue,

Discovery Cove sounds like fun. I always thought it was just swimming
with dolphins.... I didn't realize there was so many other things to do!
Steve likes to snorkel, and I can swim, but I was always afraid to go
snorkeling out in the ocean... the water is too deep for me, lol. I may
look into this.... thanks for the suggestion!!!

Debbie -- I'm sure that you will have a wonderful time even with the heat.

My 27th with DH is on July 29th (right after your B-Day). 27 seems to be the magic #. LOL

It's the perfect snorkeling experience. You always feel safe, you can go in and out as much as you want and stay in or out of the water as much as you want. We went two or three times. First just my son and I since we went to FL alone but the next year took my husband and he totally loved it. Some of the best snorkeling you could ever do.

Congratulations. Come over to St. Pete and see the Museum of Fine Arts, the Chihuly Museum and the Dali Museum. They are all artsy, obviously, but they are VERY interesting. Well, I say that, but I've never been to the Chihuly, as it is new since we left last month. Downtown St. Pete is fabulous with its restaurants, parks and art galleries. Enjoy your trip and again, congrats on your long marriage. :)
