I've discovered Nikki is a poop eater. What can I do to stop this? Never had this problem with Lexi.

I've been told that you can use a piece of Fig Newton cookies. I've never tried it, so don't know if it works or not.

I agree with Mee...if they don't have it in front of them to get curious and nibble on, they might not do it. Chanel didn't have this problem either, but I made her go outside to use the bathroom and she never got into poop eating. Is she potty trained outside or inside?
When I first got Dutchess, my Rottweiler, she had that problem. And my Beagle had that problem too. We bought Deter (Petco.com link) and used it as directed and she stopped. It isn't even that expensive either!
Here are the directions: Dogs and Puppies: Feed one tablet for each ten lbs. of body weight daily for two weeks after coprophagy is first observed. If results are not satisfactory, double dosage and administer for two more weeks. As a prevention to further episodes, continue feeding one tablet daily.
Good luck to you!![]()

Well Nikki and Lexi finished the forbid yesterday. They did pretty good while they were on it. Nikki showed no interest in her poop or Lexi's poop. She did try to eat the neighbor's dogs poop. This morning I did catch Nikki eating some of her poop! Yuck!
I think I'm going to try Deter Tablets. This is what my breeder used when she had a dog with this problem a couple of years ago.
