Puppy parties are run by our vet and basically puppies socialise and us (the owners) get to learn lots of interesting stuff about diet, grooming, health, training etc.

Anyway week one was a bit of a shambles. Javier didn't actually like the other dogs at all. He was also by far the oldest since he's four months. most of the rest were around 10 weeks-ish. And one of the other dogs is a Labradoodle which is the most energetic bizarre and strong dog I have ever seen in my life - almost knocked my head off with it's tail! :D
But we spoke to the vet and apparently there's one in every group, perhaps it will be better this weekend?

Has anyone had this sort of problem with their puppy?

Other cute things we've noticed is that he's incredibly quick to catch onto commands like "sit" and "drop", especially impressive since my year twelve exams start this Friday so I haven't spent a lot of time trying to train him at all. AND he won't eat food from anyone who's not part of the family, which is good but it was funny watching him trying to get away from the vet nurse who was trying to give him a treat after taking his stitches out (desexing, hind dew claws, and belly button hernia).

Talk to you all soon, I'm in an exceptionally good mood as I've just uploaded some new pictures - he's right here but I love looking at them

There are two genetic defects that Maltese / Shih tzu can get, one is an over/under bite which I think is from the Maltese and the other is a hernia where their umbilical cord doesn't sever properly, it's just a matter of a stitch or two, which I believe is from the Shih Tzu.

Photos... good question, I wonder where they got to? I'll ask my dad, they're probably on his computer somewhere and just haven't filtered over to me to add to my album

I'll have to find them, he's had the 'Elizebethan collar' and bandages off for two weeks now so I can't take any more photos unfortunately

He had bright blue bandages on his hind legs from the dew claws, the collar obviously so he couldn't pick at the stickes (he could reach to lick them so the vet gave us permission to take it off after three days), and a bandage on his foreleg from the injection where he had pulled his leg away while they were injecting

He removed all the bandages himself within three hours of bringing him home despite being barely able to walk because of the bandages slipping on the floor and still being a bit 'derr' from the anasthetic...

Thanks, I love my av too - kinda tells a story :D
