I wrote this poem about my Fantasia.

Pet Store Puppy
By: Jodi Gibson

I found my precious baby one winter’s day.
I was only passing threw going on my way.
When there she was just sleeping in this tiny cage.
She had a sign that read: Sold! Goes home today.
She was so sweet lying there all alone.
I had to ask the owner if she could be my own.
She was to be sold to a breeder but came home with me.
Now she is my Angel and will always be.
Then I learned she was too young to be sold.
She was taken from her mother before she got too old.
She had been born in a puppy mill in another state.
I am just glad I got her before it was too late.
You see the breeder that wanted my baby
Was not a very nice lady.
I saved my little one from the life her mommy lives.
So always remember to never buy, a puppy from the pet store guy.

Thanks for all the replies. Here is another poem I wrote for the AMR/PMR newsletter for Valentines day. This is also disturbing. For some reason all my poems are depressing and dark lol. I don't know how to write an uplifting poem. Anyway, enjoy!

A Valentines Puppy
By: Jodi Gibson

I met my new mommy one Valentine’s morn.
Her boyfriend bought me at a pet store.
He put me in a box with a bow and told me to stay well hid.
I waited as quiet as I could till they took off the lid.
I jump and yipped to show them my joy.
My mommy kissed my head and hugged me tight.
It was love at first sight.
We played till I could not play anymore.
After we were done I peed on the floor.
Then I went and found a soft place to sleep.
My mommy woke me with a Shriek.
She dragged me outside and pointed to the ground.
I did not understand so I sat there and frowned.
After a while she brought me back in.
I barked at the window and chewed on some shoes.
I wanted to get my mommy’s attention so I chewed on her too.
She picked me up and said we were going for a ride.
I tried to get away, I tried to hide.
Mommy does not seem happy, she’s hitting me too.
I wish I knew what made her so mad,
She does not care that it is making me sad.
We drove to a place I did not like at all
It smells of urine and there are barking dogs.
Where are you going mommy?
Don’t leave me here.
I promise to be good, I promise I will try.
Just don’t leave me here to die.

I'm absolutely sobbing. My little Angel was a pet Store girl who found herself in a not so nice place before here.
GOD. Where's the justice for these little Angels?

Thank you for sharing your work. Truly touching and awakening.
