Hello, One of our pet is diagnosed with PLE. He had diarrhea for few weeks we visited multiple vets and finally we saw he got a pot belly so we got the blood work done and the vet said his protein level is less than 2. The vet also said there can be multiple reasons for PLE. Our pet got b12 shot and steirods medication. Do vets treat the underlying condition or is it hard to even diagnose the underlying condition ? She mentioned there can many reasons. Is this a good way to treat our pet ? Am I missing anything ?

If you live near a large vet hospital it may be a good idea to go for a complete evaluation as a 2nd opinion. I don't know much about PLE but I have heard that sometimes the cortisone is used in combination w/cyclosporine. Our Lisi used this combo when she had serious vasculitis some yrs. ago. (she did not have PLE). I am sorry, I wish I could be of more help. This is a serious issue & I think it best to be advised by a proper vet/vet hospital! I hope you find some help.

My 4 year old Maltese just got diagnosed with this today. Do you all have any experience with this medical issue ? It was detected as he had a low protein level in his blood at his yearly exam. Thank you for your help !
