All, our Rebel is 14 months old and his mustache hasn’t grown out at all. Can anyone provide advice on things to try? Sadly the breeder, a woman in Harrisonburg VA we found on the AKC site, has been no help. This poor guy looks like a mix without his mustache. And nothing against mixes— it’s just that when you pay AKC money, you expect to get a breed-standard look.

Rebel is adorable but I think he is a mix of some kind. The hair on a muzzle should just grow naturally plus his muzzle looks way too long to be full maltese. At least in the pictures his muzzle looks long but he sure is cute

Our maltese is 15 mo old !

Could it be a mix of a Chihuahua and a Maltese? Rebel looks more like a Chihuahua... Don't expect the hair to grow anymore at that age.
