This is the taping that I attended. It covers a very important topic of child trafficking(selling children for prostitution) and Lisa's issue(of women in the Congo being abducted and violently raped). This is a very VERY powerful show. I promise you WILL be moved to do something. Ricky said...they have PLENTY of supplies...they need PEOPLE to donate their time to help make sure these orphans of the tsunami are kept safe from the evil horrible people who are coming and taking these children and selling them for illegal adoption and/or prostitution.
. I hope all of you can watch the show. If you couldn't and didn't tape it and would like to see it, please PM me and I will gladly send you a copy free of charge. I am a firm believer that people can move mountains...and i know you all care enough to do something...please watch and see that there are children out there who need us.

Ricky's foundation that is heading up a drive to build a safe haven for at least 600 orphans of the tsunami...is called People for Children... you can read what Ricky is doing at Peopleforchildren.org. If you visit the site, it might take a moment to load but it is well worth it.

This is a pic of him at Oprah for those who was asking me how he looked while I was there..

God bless you all and thank you for reading.

you won't regret it. It's not about Ricky Martin..it's about the littlest victims of the tsunami...it's sad, but there IS hope!

How heartening to see a star who could be spending his idle time self-indulging instead get involved in something substantive and urgent like rescue of these vulnerable children. This will have long-term repercussions as children who are abused beget abused children and the cycle just continues. Stopping this now is the first priority.

Cutting off the hands of those who would sell and use these children is the next! Poke out their eyeballs, too. Then leave them in the desert for the ants to eat.

Gee, normally I am a fairly mild-mannered person.

I TIVOed it and saw it last night. What an awesome guy he is and I'm so happy there's still people like him in the world that are rich and famous and still think of everyone else that are not as fortunate as he.

I LOVE RICKI!!! And I've been a fan since his Menudo days

There's been a mixture of reaction on some other boards (mostly popfan boards for other artists) of how/why Ricky was there in Thailand. All I can say is, look at who you are and what you are personally doing for these victims. Ricky dropped what he was doing, got up out of his comfy lifestyle and got on a plane(ok so he's got the money to do things we don't...but don't hold that against him, he HAS worked for that money
).The man flew to Thailand, saw the devastation first hand and has commited his time and money to build homes for these orphans and make sure they stay out of harm's way. He also donates plenty of his time and efforts to his home-island of Puerto Rico. He's got a huge heart and is sharing it with the children. How can someone blame him for this?
Anyhowwww...lol just had to vent a bit. It's amazing, I go to Oprah's message boards and people are wanting to help but when they go to certain sites (Red Cross, UNICEF) they can't find how to donate their TIME...they want to go and help in the devastation but can't find the venues. I'll be searching a little on this. If any of you know of a group that is helping people make their way over there, post or pm me please. Thanks.

There was an article in our newspaper today about people who want to help out physically in those affected areas. It did give a reference (I'll post it later) but also said anyone volunteering has to be able to support themselves. I take that to mean, find shelter, food, transportation, etc. They just don't have the ability to take responsibility for volunteers when they are working to help victims.
