Poor Hunter

We called to make an appointment with Hunter's favorite groomer and learned that she has hurt her wrist and it is unknown when she might be returning to work (i.e. more than 2 weeks at least). Hunter is DUE for a cut but at this point we don't trust anyone else at the shop (we go to Petsmart, the women that cuts him worked at the shelter we got him from while he was there).

So, it seems that Hunter might be sporting a new longer hairdo for a while until she comes back. We seem to have the WORST luck with groomers - his last one didn't come back after she had a baby and the one before that caged him when she said she didn't and the one before that just up and vanished and the one before that didn't understand the words - DO NOT SHAVE. GRRR.......I really hope our groomer comes back!!!

Thanks for letting me vent.

Poor Hunter! Erin I feel for you.....finding a good groomer is like finding a good vet that you trust. I am sure Hunter will look just as handsome, long or short hair.
that's a bummer . .it really is frustrating to not be able to have your usual groomer . . I hope her wrist gets healed fast enough . . .I can't wait to see pic though the the hunter sporting a new look . .am sure he will still be looking as handsome in his new temporary "style" . . .
Oh I know. I recently had to bribe my groomer with more money to keep me. :HistericalSmiley:She tried to give us the slip bc she had too much work with the dog daycare she also does but the thought of finding/training another groomer after what it took to find her after our first groomer moved...well I was desperate lol.

I'd say try another one and just stay there while she cuts but it sounds like you've probably gone through everyone in your area! (That's horrible about the one who lied about the cage dryer!) Hopefully she'll be back soon.

I thought about using another woman but the only other one that does the express groom I feel is very rough with the animals and doesn't focus on them. I once watched her shave down a dog while talking on the phone (and it wasn't to a client - it was DEF. a personal call). I think I am going to use husband's beard trimmer to clean the pads and armpits and I will try to just keep him mat free till she comes back. If she's not back in 3 weeks we will have to do something drastic - do you shave with the hair or against it???:w00t:

As far as the woman who lied about the cage drying - I was really upset because Hunter had just been at the vets for stomach issues and was on medications and we were told to make sure he got plenty of water and didn't get too hot or stressed. Cages stress him out and you never know about those dryers. I actually reported her to the BBB because I was so upset. When I picked him up he was panting and his entire face was wet so I knew right away that she was not being truthful. No big loss though as she also took WAY TOO long to groom him - the second time he was there he was there for almost 4 hours, I had to go and demand him back and that's when I caught her and the dryer!

How about asking your vet who they recommend for grooming?
