I'd like to get the carpets in the house cleaned. I thought about Stanley Steemer, but since I have hardly any carpet in the house (bedroom and a small foyer area), I thought about doing it myself with a Rug Doctor.

However, I am a germ freak and I am worried about renting it and bring other people's filth into my house! :blush: :innocent: :angry: :w00t:

Has anyone ever rented one and had a problem like that? I just imagine bringing fleas into the house or something like that!

I know Marje rented one not too long ago with great results except for a sore back.

never used one,heard they do a good job. Not sure if they harbor germs.

I rented one a few weeks ago. I'd heard it's better to rent them from some place besides the grocery store as they will be cleaner and in better condition. You can go to their website and find a list of stores near you. I got one from Big Lots and it was nice and clean.

The Rug Doctor does a great job, but it's hard work! They are heavy and not user friendly IMO. Pulling the thing while walking backwards is hard on your back. I thought the handle needed to be about six inches longer so I didn't have to stoop over so much.

Thanks Marj! We were thinking about getting it from Home Depot, but I am definitely going to check it out before we rent it. I'll probably end up cleaning it outside before we even bring it in the house.
