Aww poor baby. My babies are meanies. They bark and growl at others. My cousin brought her friend's shih tzu over and she is the cutest thing and my dogs were being mean to her. They are so bad. Hopefully, they will play more as time goes by.

Cappy--Can I ask how old you are?

Thanks! I really care for Tyler, and he's a really smart dog! When I put him on the ground, that dog chased him into a corner!

Be very, very careful of your dog around big dogs... they can see him as prey and grab him so fast you won't know what happened. It is instinct. I've heard horror stories of this happening. Please be very careful... whenever we're around big dogs, I always pick mine up off the ground. I've heard that even if the owner says their dog is "friendly", keep yours safely in your arms ... there is no reason to take chances.

Ah, 11 years. Yeah, I'm pretty young to be on online forums, but Tyler is mostly my responsibility, so I always need help and advice.

I would be VERY careful about "dog parks", you don't know what kinds of diseases other dogs may be carrying. I would never personally go to a dog park with Sisse, although I understand some people don't have a choice depending on the area they live in. I applaud you in finding SM and being the best Dad Tyler ever had!! Welcome to our family!!

I watched Animal Planet ALL DAY yesterday!
Anyway, on one of the shows a pair of Rotts got through the fence and attacked the neighbor's guinnea pigs (2) and his Chihuahua (sp?)...Killed all of them. Well, the Chi got taken to the vet, but he had to have him put down, he was really bad.
The guy was SO sad...it broke my heart!

I have to say that I think Peanut may have been a rott in a past life...I swear he would try to take down a rott if we ever came across one
!! People with big dogs always laugh when Peanut trys to 'protect' me from the big dogs walking. It's cute that Peanut 'thinks' he can do it, but totally scary that given the situation he would really try.

Again, on Animal Planet yesterday
There was a set of dogs that this lady owned and one of them kept nipping/biting strangers. So they went to the dangerous animal court and she had rules to follow. She couldn't take the two dogs out together, and she had to have them on a leash at ALL times.
Well, she didn't follow the rules (because one of the dogs was sad to go alone) and he bit another person...his bites would break the skin, but nothing major.
I have NO idea what kind of dogs they were. But they were long haired..bigger than our babies...even bigger than a size level bigger than ours.
Anyway, they were REALLY cute! The judge took them away the second time and they had to go through behavioral tests. One passed fine, the other one failed miserably they said...but most of the tests they did, he did the same thing that Brink would do too...
Like they had somebody jog by him and he would lunge out as far as the leash would go to try and get at them...he never growled or barked that I saw...
Anyway, the judge ordered him put to sleep b/c he could not be re-homed! I was SO shocked! He HAD bitten 5-7 times....but he seemed so harmless really...probably needed some training...but he had him PUT TO SLEEP! Her nephew took the other dog. She was very docile in comparison.
Anyway, scared me when I saw that dog acting the very way Brink would sometimes. BUT-the lady should have followed the judges original orders!
She seemed to REALLY love those dogs! She was a hysterical mess when they took them! I felt for her, but it was her own fault too!

Oh man that sucks!!! That poor dog!
It's so hard to see that more training could have ended the problem. I have read many times that sheltered, abandond, and euthanized dogs are mostly 'problem' dogs who could have been saved with some time and effort. I'm glad Peanut has never nipped anyone...

We don't have the "big dog" problem with Sisse yet, she is afraid of her shadow!! Must still be getting use to the place!! LOL, yesterday we were out on the porch with her and a Cactus Wren hopped up on the step, Sisse beat a path to the sliding door and was crying to get in!! She is SUCH a wus.....

OMG.... that is one reason I don't watch that channel very often... it is too emotionally wrenching! Oh, I do believe they should have at least tried to have a trainer work with the dog... yep, Kallie, also, definitely would bark and lunge at anyone who walked by us.. but she would never bite... she has never even snapped at Catcher.... who deserves to be snapped at occasionally.
