Secret Santa Poll

We've received several suggestions on Secret Santa spending limits, so I thought I'd do a poll and then we can make the final decision about setting a limit on Secret Santa.

The fairest would be 2 spending categories.

No spending limits would be unfair on people who maybe cannot afford to spend a lot and putting a limit to $25 would be unfair on people wanting to spend that bit more.
Lynn - I keep thinking that $10 thing just isn't going to fly and that's why I didn't vote. I think it's pretty impossible to find anything for $10 these days. Was thinking more of first category being $20-$30; next being $30-50 might be more realistic if we're going with two tiers.

I agree with you Susan.
I agree with Susan too Lynn. I did vote for having the two spending categories above though.
I support anything that everyone agrees on. I would love to see more people feel comfortable participating. Last year I was able to really spoil my SS because I was able to shop around and DYI. I voted for two categories which I think would let many more participate and also in a price range they feel comfortable. I'm not sure $10 - $25 would really work well because of the differences in cost of living across the US and our foreign friends. But, if that's what is decided I will be sure to adhere and of course participate!
I voted for one range of spending, but I agree that $10 is too low
to be realistic. I think a $20-$30 range would be good. I'll also
be happy with whatever is decided.

I agree with you :) I really like the idea of having two different spending categories so everyone can feel comfortable participating.
the $10 - $25 is winning now - I think that would be a bad idea because you really can't buy much for that price :(
I agree that it would be hard to find something if you're limited to such a small amount. I can't think of much you could get for $10.00. I also think that would take some of the fun out of it. I like the two tier idea.
I like to particpate in the SS and have enjoyed buying for our furbabies but with the cost of postage $10-$25 would be very difficult to adhere to
Why can't it be just 1 number we adhere to? Excluding postage and handling.
xoxoxoxo
I'm listening to everyone's suggestions. What is we go $20 - 50 with $50 being the max (excluding postage)?

That feels like a really big spread to me Lynn. I just think that way someone's going to feel bad if they spent $50 and their recipient spent $20 and vice versa. We don't want anyone feeling bad about the Secret Santa. I really feel it's the thought that counts not the price of the gift. I personally would feel much better with $25-$30 (or $35) and of course that excludes postage. I know a lot of us have family we need to get gifts for and also charities we contribute to for the holidays. We can always spoil our SS at other times like b'days or just cheer someone up days. I'll support what the majority wants and would love to participate again but don't feel like I can go over the above amount. As a freelancer,I might not even have any work by December. JMHO.

I agree.

I think the easiest way would be something close - like 30 - 40 or 40 - 50

Personally, I would like the limit to be closer to $50 but I totally get that others cannot afford that - so the 2 categories would be good.
I also agree, $30-$40 seems like a nice range. =)
