Simplicity has some cute dog patterns available in the craft and costume section of their books. If you go to a fabric store that sells patterns, just look in one of the simplicity books under those sections.

My sister tried for a couple of months to teach me how to sew when my daughter was little. I was determined I could make unique & one of a kind clothing for my daughter....well I was right on both counts...lol

Whatever it was I made was never worn, and my sister decided that sewing was not my special gift...

SM has been blessed with some talented members. Zippy and I are so very grateful for them!

I have looked at the ones from simplicity and did not find one for teh correct size dog. I will have to look again.
For those ladies that do make doggie clothes did you just make your own pattern or have you found them?

Elisabeth, you can make a pattern from a dress or outfit you may have already. The little velcro dresses and vests are pretty simple as far as a pattern is involved.
I hope you do make some and share your work with us.
I've made a few dresses. One I copied since the dress was VERY expensive.

I havent found anything to fit lily yet. I know they are out there but I want to make matching outfits for her and my girls. I will continue to look. Thanks!

I found a basic pattern on the internet. I can scan it in email to you. I can't find it on my favourites,must be gone now. PM me and I will email it to you.

When I started sewing for my girls, I used a dress that I liked to get the basic pattern. I usually use newpaper to make my patterns and adjust for size. It's really not hard.

It is easy to make dog dresses, I used a dress I had bought many years ago , I actually took the whole dress apart and made a pattern, then I just went from there and designed things differently as I went. I think the fabric choices are really what makes the dress stand out. You might buy a cheap dress at Walmart and go from there. Make sure you use strong velcro you don't want it to come apart

Buttons and Bows always look styling in their beautiful hand made clothes!!

I drafted my own pattern for Bogie using some of his existing clothes and from muslin shapes I would cut and fit on him. Kind of like draping on a dress form. Have fun sewing for your babe. I just got a knitting machine and if I can master this beast I'll be able to knit up some super cool sweaters for him, too! Can't get past a baby sock, yet, though...

I found the pattern I started out with. Use this link to read instructions and print pattern from a PDF file. This pattern is small,for a chihuahua,but I printed it and made it bigger,altering it for my girls,I also altered it for Rylee..
This will make it easier than trying to email it to so many.

You STARTED with a SOCK?? lol I knit with needles. I wouldn't have picked a sock for my first project LOL they're pains!! I tried doing it with needles and wanted to pull my hair out!! I STILL haven't mastered knitting in the round. That's where a machine would come in handy!
